Hello friends and happy Thursday. It has been more than chaotic the past few days here. I would sit and chat about it but I’m sure you’ll hear about it all in Sunday’s Weekly Wrap Up. Today I wanted to post a contour routine/tutorial; as it is one of my most requested posts from my friends and family! I go in-depth as to how I contour and which products I use. So without further ado, let’s get started…
Starting off your makeup with a fresh, clean, moisturized face is so important. I use the Cetaphil cleanser and the Cerave moisturizer before doing my makeup. I then prime with the Nivea men’s Shave Balm to ensure my makeup stays all day.
I prefer to do all of my makeup, leaving contouring and highlighting for the very last with the exception of lips. I find that once all of my makeup is done, I have a clear view of how much makeup I already have on my face, as well as how heavy of a contour will look good.
To contour I tend to reach for my Anastasia contour Kit ($42 from Ulta or Sephora) and apply with my Elf Bronzing Brush ($1 from local drugstore). I start by applying product to my brush and sucking my cheeks in to form a “fish” face. Afterwards, I follow where my face naturally draws in and the tops of my ears to estimate exactly where I should contour. I then work the product into my temples, focusing the product farthest away from my lips and slowly working it down about an inch from the corners of my lips. I then slim down my nose by swiping product along the sides of my nose in a straight line and then another one horizontally towards the tip of my nose to keep my nose from looking more elongated.
I tend to contour 4 out of 5 days throughout the school week. If I’ve learned one thing from makeup, it’s that practice makes perfect!!! So keep trying and you will eventually master the art of contouring. feel free to search up any Youtube tutorials to get a better idea! I hope you enjoyed hearing about my makeup routine.
