Smokey Eye MOTD/Tutorial

Hello everyone! I hope you al are having a wonderful day so far; today I am here with a smokey eye makeup of the day/tutorial. I don’t often wear smokey eyes but when I do it’s often from my Naked Two palette and it’s not too harsh. As we move into the fall season and I tend to incorporate more black into my wardrobe, I find myself reaching for this eye look more and more. So, I thought, what better thing to write about today then this smokey eye?! I’m sharing with you the steps I took to achieve this look and all the makeup products I used below.

The first step to a perfect smokey eye look, is the base. Which in this case, is your face. I’m starting with the Nivea’s Mens Shave Balm and my Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation in ‘332’. I’m making sure to reach for a foundation that doesn’t have too many pink undertones. I feel like that face finish and the coloring of the shadows leaves me looking ghostly and unnatural which is why I’m reaching for a warmer toned foundation.

I am then setting my foundation with the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation to keep me from getting oily throughput the day. I am also taking the Garner Under Eye Concealer to cover up any dark circles. This step is so important, as we don’t want the discoloration from under eye bags to conflict with the dark shadows.

I am then priming my lids and taking the Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Silver Strike”. This creates a nice even base that will keep my shadows from looking patchy. I am then taking the color ‘pistol’ and packing this onto my eyelids on a flat shader brush. Afterward, on a fluffy crease brush I am taking the color ‘tease’ as a matte transition shade. For my outer V I am darkening it up just a bit using ‘verve’. I also took a bit of ‘verve’ and dragged this onto my lower lash line. The most important thing is to blend blend blend. I am then filling in my brows with the Anastasia Dip Brow.

Finally, I am curling my lashes and applying several coats of mascara before applying a nude Rimmel by Kate lipstick. As you can tell the nude paired nicely with this look because it didn’t clash or take away from the eye look.

I tried to keep this look smokey but wearable. As you can tell I didn’t build up the colors as much as they could because I didn’t want the look to become too harsh.
