There is something about watching runway trends being altered into the wearable, clothing pieces that fill my closet, that is so unbelievably enchanting to me. I simply adore it. Each season I try to upload two posts that cover the latest trends that I’ve been eyeing and share how I implemented them into my own outfits that I will actually wear. (One typically before the season and one when the season is in full swing.)
Alright, let’s talk style. Off the shoulders made their mark a handful of seasons ago but have stuck nonetheless. They are simply adorable and instantly add a touch of class to any look. Despite the impracticality of wearing them with a backpack on (high school probs, lol) they are some of my favorites. If off the shoulder isn’t your thing, then the cold shoulder could be it for you! This trend is perfect for showing a little bit of skin while still keeping a majority of the upper half covered. I have seen patterns such as gingham, stripes, and seer sucker all featuring the two shoulder trends in practically every local store. I’ve also been seeing lots of clothing lined with trim around lately. Despite the heftier price tag that these pieces come with (keep in mind that trim is very expensive!), they are the cutest, most unique touch to add to a basic wardrobe. You can even purchase some trim from your local craft store and sew it on for a fun DIY! Flared denim was huge in the seventies and has without a doubt made its comeback this season along with every other wide leg pant imaginable. Unfortunately, I have yet to get my hands on a pair of culottes! Also, simple white tees with a graphic on it have been spotted everywhere; positive vibes, women, and empowerment are all super popular right now in terms of being plastered across your chest. For the shoes, I’ve been seeing lots and lots of mules, flat slip-ons, and the classic block heel nearly everywhere. I am totally an open toed kind of girl so this seasons trends are definitely not disappointing me.
I could ramble on for literally hours about the trends I have been keeping my eyes on but I’ll leave it at that for now. Here’s how I styled the trends-
(cold shoulder, pin stripes, mules)
Outfit Details- dress: TJ Maxx, shoes: Target/Mossimo, purse: TJ Maxx, watch: Kohl’s, necklace: Nordstrom Rack
(cuffed graphic tee, colored slip-ons)
Outfit Details- tee: Hunter&Honey, shorts: Forever 21, necklace: BellaDesignsbyBree, shoes: Forever 2, bracelets: Alex and Ani, purse: Gap
(trimmed jeans, mules)
Outfit Details- tee: Aeropostale, jeans: Gap/Thrifted/DIY, shoes: Target/Mossimo
(trimmed top, off the shoulder, flared denim, block heels)
Outfit Details- top: TJ Maxx, jeans: TJ Maxx/Abercrombie&Fitch, shoes: Target/Mossimo, choker: Forever 21
Well, what did you all think of these outfits?! Spring is in full swing with Summer on its way which is making me smile so wide. Temperatures around here have been sunny and seventy-five for the most part; however, I typically am wearing jeans if not a skirt or dress due to the chillier temps my classrooms tend to be. Feel free to steal these outfit ideas and alter them whichever way is best suited for where you live!
These are my absolute favorite posts to write so I really hope you all enjoyed! Let me know what trends you’ve been eyeing lately along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing lots of warm weather upon you all. With love, McKenz
