As I’m sure most of you know by now, I am a part of my school’s Varsity Cheerleading squad and have been since Freshman year! My favorite part of the week is by far Friday night when I’m on the track cheering on our town’s boys of Fall. There is simply no greater feeling than being in that atmosphere.
Today I wanted to give you all a peek into that side of my life and share with you how I typically get ready for a game day. On Friday’s our squad gets ready with one another at school so I tried my best to share with you how I would do my makeup, despite having to take my pictures from home!
Oh, and by the way, I change up how I get ready in the month of October due to it being breast cancer awareness month. Originally, I had intended for this to go up last week but due to my hectic schedule, it’s going up today so if you’d like to see an updated/October edition be sure to let me know! I’d be happy to share that with you as well.
I’m starting off the look with a fresh face and am applying the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm . I love this because I sweat so much on game night’s and this keeps my makeup from sliding around as the night progresses. I then applied the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation all over my face and set it with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, as per usual to get the perfect base going for the rest of my makeup.
I am then going in with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and covering my dark circles and any imperfections I may have before setting my concealer with the banana powder from the Anastasia Contour Kit.
One of the most overlooked products for game days is by far blush! This is such an essential step in my routine as it brings so much life to the face and really changes your overall appearance when being viewed from the stands. I’m going in with the Wet N Wild Blush in the color ‘Pearlescent Pink’ and then contouring my cheekbones, nose, and forehead with the Lumene Bronzer. I typically do a harsher contour on game days as well to really accentuate my features!
I’m then filling in my brows with a pencil similar to the Maybelline Brow Precise and highlighting my brow bone and high points of my face with the Wet N Wild Highlighter in the shade ‘Precious Petals’ for a glowing, dewy finish that I adore so much for games.
For the eyes, I’m beginning with my go-to primer, the Urban Decay Primer Potion and applying this all over my lids to keep my shadows from sliding. To keep my shadows opaque and looking flawless all night I’m applying the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade ‘Barely Branded’ directly over top of that. I am then taking the shade ‘Half Baked’ from the Naked 2 Palette on my finger and generously packing this onto my lid for a super bright gold look.
I’m then mixing the matte shades ‘Salted Carmel’ and ‘Milk Chocolate’ from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and applying them to my crease with a dense crease brush. I’m then adding a bit more definition to the look and darkening things up a bit by applying the shade ‘Haute Chocolate’ to my outer v and dragging this along my lower lash line. To finish off the look I’m applying several coats of the Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara in the waterproof formula to prevent any smudging.
For the lips, I either go with something nude, glossy, and simple like the Maybelline Color Whisper in ‘Tough As Taupe’ that I’m wearing here or I’ll go with a burnt orange undertoned, matte lipstick like the one I’m wearing in the hair portion of this Get Ready With Me.
I’ll typically finish off my look completely by spraying a bit of setting spray onto my face to really ensure that my makeup stays in place all night. And, that is all! This makeup look is super similar to my everyday makeup routine which is why I love it so much. I cannot wait for my first October game so I can begin playing around with some pink shadows!
Most game days I’ll begin with second-day straightened hair that way it can hold a tease and is easy to work with. My hair is a bit too short this year to french braid the front or poof it so I’ve been simply slicking my hair back into a tight, high ponytail. To keep my baby hairs in place and my hair under control I use the Got 2B Glued Paste. This works super well on fine hair; therefore, I would really recommend this product!
Once my hair is up, I put in my bow (it changes each week depending on which uniform we wear). I then begin teasing my hair from back to front with a teasing comb and the Got 2B Glued Freeze Blast Hairspray. This adds volume to the hair and gives it that high look that is popular amongst the cheer community. Like I said my hair is pretty short right now and I do have layers so I haven’t been able to tease it much, just enough to peek over my bow!
My squad has four uniforms which if you’ve read any of my Weekly Wrap Up’s you would probably have realized by now! I’ll try to insert a few pictures of me in each so you can see what they look like. I also wear the Nfinity Evolution cheer shoes.
Alright, well that’s a wrap for today’s blog post. I really hope you all enjoyed getting the inside scoop on my typical Friday night. If you have any questions, comments, or requests be sure to leave them below; I’m always happy to chat! Thank you all so much for stopping by. With love, McKenz
