This is the worst time of the year. Late February into early March I feel as though there is nothing to look forward to. Time is moving fast and yet nothing is happening at this time. Cheer has come to an end, there is an awkward gap in the weather because one day its freezing and the next day it’s warm enough to wear a skirt, and I feel like there is nothing super pressing to cover here on my blog. I know I know, I sound like a horribly pessimistic person.
The first six weeks of the year or so are awesome for me in terms of style; I’m cranking out the outfits despite whether or not my clothes are new or three years old. It’s awesome because I feel confident not only in what I’m wearing to school but what I’m promoting here on the blog.! However, then that icky time of year comes and all of a sudden I have no idea what to wear because of how unpredictable this weather is- and that makes me sad because then all at once, the only thing I always feel 100% certain about is ripped from me.
So anyway, now that I’ve let all my feelings out about this awkward transition time of the year, let’s get to the point of today’s post. Today I’m here to share with you a few outfit ideas that I’ve managed to come up with if you too are feeling this late winter funk. I hope this helps if you’re in that awkward style slump as well and are able to snag a few tips from today’s post. Enjoy!
One of my favorite combos to wear when it starts to get a bit nicer out is a denim skirt or dress with over the knee boots. The skirt hints at spring being around the corner but pairing boots and a turtleneck with it keeps things winter-ish. I’m popping over my faux fur because let’s be real, what kind of lookbook would it be without this piece?! Plus, the extra layer makes it perfect for those temps that are hovering around the forties.
Outfit Details – turtleneck: Hollister, faux fur vest: Old Navy, jean skirt: Old Navy, boots: DSW, purse: Old Navy
Flats are my miracle worker around this time of year. This pale pink pair look perfect when paired with a tee in a similar hue. To add a bit of warmth for the chillier mornings I’m throwing on a fuzzy cardigan. I also like to start breaking out the ripped skinnies around this time of year—something about the forty-fifty degree temperatures screams ‘it’s finally warm enough to show your knees’ to me, lol!
Outfit Details – top: Old Navy, cardigan: Hollister/Old Navy, jeans: Old Navy, flats: Glick’s, watch: DKNY/TJ Maxx
If you’ve been around for a while, you know how much I love scarves. I think they are the perfect accessory. I’m wearing mine around my neck with a simple peplum. I’m throwing on a denim jacket and some block heeled booties to complete the look. This is typically around the time that I start to break out my white jeans again and it always feels so good!
Outfit Details – tank: Old Navy, jean jacket: TJ Maxx, jeans: Gap, scarf: Target, booties: Old Navy, purse: Gap
When in doubt, throw on some athleisure wear and call it a day. I mean, you really can never go wrong with a leggings + zip up combo. I’m trying to give this black outfit some airy vibes by sticking to some light pink sneakers and a cute tank underneath. I love this type of outfit for days when your bed feels extra comfy in the morning or those weekend errands!
Outfit Details – zip up: Gap Body, leggings: 90 Degree By Reflex/TJ Maxx, tank top: 90 Degree By Reflex/TJ Maxx, sports bra: 90 Degree By Reflex/TJ Maxx, sneakers: New Balance
Well, did this give you some hope for these next few weeks of weird weather?! I’m thinking they are giving me a little jolt of inspiration for this awkward transition period. Let me know which outfit was your favorite below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Have an awesome day! With love, McKenz
