Hey, y’all; it’s me again! I’m back with one of my favorite posts of the month- my monthly favorites, happenings, rambling, whatever you want to call it. I’ve got a whole lot to talk about/say this time around, so get excited and grab a seat… we’re hopping right into it today!
Style, style, style… I talked about how hard it is to classify the standard fashion for these awkward months in this blog post so I won’t go into a full-on rant today too; however, I have been struggling with what to wear. I’ve been a total turtleneck freak for what, the fifth month in a row?! I cannot get enough, #sorrynotsorry. My mom was away for a week this month so I totally raided her closet and wore all the light pink pieces I could get my hands on. I’ve been obsessed with my Target over the knee boots and anything I can wear a sneaker with. Not to mention, my blue Travel On bag is making these winter blues a little more bearable- I review all the amazing things about this brand in this post. If you missed it, you have to check it out: their stuff is incredible!
Woohoo, finally a few beauty favorites to share with you all! I got my hair cut and colored this month which has obviously made me feel so much better about everything since. I cannot even explain the power of a good haircut… Since then, I have been using the Loreal Color Vibrant Intensity Shampoo & Conditioner and it is working wonders. It leaves my hair smelling nice, super soft, and is leaving my color looking extra fresh: plus a major bonus, it’s allowing me to make it to third-day hair without any problems! (lazy people like me will understand this life-changing feeling) I’ve accepted a few brand deals with Neutrogena this month and have been using a few of the products the last couple of weeks to test them out. So far I am loving their Acne Proofing Daily Scrub for a good, fresh deep clean and their Hydroboost Water Gel moisturizer for the most amazing feeling skin ever. My skin is clear and feeling healthy and happy, double yay. As far as makeup goes, I’ve been loving this Buxom Lip Liner and the Anastasia Dip Brow once again. It’s the perfect match for my new hair and is leaving me a little more satisfied these days in comparison to my standard brow pencil!
I’ve mentioned a few times on here that I am Catholic but it’s been a while since I’ve touched on my Faith aside from the little snippet that I include in each monthly favorites. I’ve been feeling a little disconnected from my relationship with God up until this month. Rather than giving something up during this season of Lent I decided to do something that would benefit me personally, by adding something to my days rather than removing something. I’ve gone back to reading my Bible each night rather than every few days which has felt awesome. I have enjoyed reading Isaiah each night and am trying to release the ‘chore’ feeling that reading devotionals often feels like. I’ve also been going to church every Sunday night and sitting with one of my good friends from cheer, Katie. We have a good time together and I enjoy being in her presence. On top of that, I also have been spending fifteen minutes a day, at least in my reader, leaving messages on other girl’s blog posts. These people contribute to my success and therefore I want to do the same for them! I’ve been feeling rather refreshed in this aspect of life and am hoping to make this more than a Lent project but a new wave of habits!
I’ve hardly had any time to watch TV this month… which I suppose is a good thing. I did start Friends last week and am only a few episodes in but I am loving it for the sole fact that the fashion is absolutely incredible! I’m sure that will be a slow rolling show for me, but I’m loving it. I’ve been trying to keep up with other YouTuber’s and can not stop listening to The Greatest Showman Soundtrack after seeing the movie in theaters a few weeks ago. ‘Never Enough’ is seriously the best song ever! As far as other entertainment goes, I’ve been really into reading again. I’ve always been a big fan of books and am trying my best to get back into the habit of reading before bed. I’ve been reading Patricia Cornwell’s Body of Evidence for my forensic’s class and am also reading Born A Crime for my AP Lang class. I’m loving both of them and have enjoyed flipping pages before I close my eyes rather than scrolling on a screen.
I feel so excited because I was finally able to make a little bit of progress on my follower count here on the blog! Because February is shorter, I inevitably posted less posts which resulted in fewer views which sort of stinks but is okay because like I mentioned earlier, I’m really focusing on being present across other people’s websites as well- and I really appreciate the effort in that sense. I did not meet my Instagram goal and I have been terrible about engaging here lately so I may be adding this to my nightly goals as well. In the scheme of things- it’s really not about the numbers but about the relationships and that is what I keep reminding myself. I have some awesome brand deals lined up for this next month that I am so excited about + they are all with brands that I feel extremely proud to represent. This month I’m hoping to exceed the number of views I had in March of 2017. I feel like this will be a good goal, as it will focus on growth rather than numbers! I also want to continue sticking to my post schedule which has been working out wonderful so far this year.
Anyway, the remainder of this month has been spent wrapping up cheer season with a few last basketball games and spending tons of time doing homework; the new semester definitely brought on a heavy workload. I also helped out with my school’s Fashion Show and published my 500th blog post which was super exciting. Because March is my least favorite month, I am hoping that through blogging I can make myself excited for this new beginning + Spring Break is near and much needed!
I hate to make these posts so long but sometimes I just get writing and cannot stop! Plus, these favorites are such a fun way for me to look back and see how I was doing not only mentally but physically throughout the years. What have you been loving this month?! Be sure to let me know below OR leave the link to your monthly favorites post so I can check it out! Thanks a ton for hanging out with me today. With love, McKenz
