What a fabulous month it has been! I have felt a happiness so deep in my heart this month and that is so refreshing and pleasing to write. I have been busy beyond words this month and have understood that keeping myself involved throughout my school and occupying my time is something that I genuinely need in order to keep sane.
April weather has been nothing short of unpredictable leaving me stuck with unpredictable outfit choices as well. However, the days where the weather has warmed up long enough to pull out some of my spring favorites; I have truly appreciated! My denim mini skirt has been on repeat and if it’s yellow or green- I want it. I like to dress in my school colors on days where there is a baseball game so I’ve quickly found myself in some of those favorites as well as my Hunter&Honey tee shirts! My footwear has varied from boots to sandals; I’ve found myself in Hunters quit frequently for practicality reason around the dugout and all those April showers but have also loved these mustard sandals from target and of course my black slip ons from Details Boutique, they are so comfy and are the perfect slip on and go shoe.
A few other favorites would have to be my prom dress of course; I waited to share with you guys and am happy I did but it was definitely a piece that made me feel beautiful! I also purchased a few pairs of clip on earrings when shopping at the Mall last week. I don’t have my ears pierced anymore and because of cheer there’s never been a good time to get them redone! However, I knew I wanted to wear earrings the night of prom and have been dying for a pair of clip-ons so when I found these few cute pairs I knew I needed them!
I picked up a few new beauty products a couple of weeks ago and have loved playing around with them. I have quickly fallen back in love with the Cat Eyes mascara from Maybelline and am such a fan of my new Wet N Wild Highlighter. I’ve been using the shade precious Petals for nearly a year now but when I found Crown the other week, I knew I needed it- It’s such a stunning shade!
I’ve also been using the Not Your Mothers Dry shampoo like crazy to hold me over in between washes. I prefer the blue bottle because it smells better and adds tons of volume to my hair but the green bottle gets the job done too!
Many of you know that I am Catholic and therefore Easter this month marked the end of Lent! I had a very successful Lent this year, deciding not to give something up but to do something that would better myself and habits. One of the things was to read each night in my Bible. I was pleased to have done this but fell out of the habit a bit this month in terms of journaling. However, through the power of prayer I have felt so close to God this month and can see him working wonders with my life! I, of course, am grateful for one of my besties Katie for being my church buddy and sitting with me at mass each Sunday night.
I’d be lying if I said I’ve watched a lot of TV this month. I’ve hardly had any time between baseball and studying for exams but when I do, you can find Friends on. I’m moving slow with the show still but have really enjoyed it; I just finished Season 3! I also like to watch Riverdale week to week on regular TV but am afraid that I’ve missed the las couple weeks; I suppose I have plans for my next spare minutes now.
I just finished up reading ‘All That Remains’ by Patricia Cornwell which was fabulous. I love her books and cannot wait to read the next book in her Body of evidence series.
As a part of my Lent ‘project’ I was spending at least fifteen minutes a day in my WordPress reader each night reading and commenting on other bloggers stuff. This is a habit that I unintentionally strayed away from the last few weeks and it has drastically changed my own success on the blog this month. Immediately noticed less engagement and a drop in views + a sadness in my own heart for missing so many of my lovely friend’s posts! Therefore, for May we’re going big on the goals y’all; I’m not sure that no goals were a good idea for me in April. Having no ‘expectations’ did nothing for me and not having something to work toward was a hot mess for me.
This month I want to – post on Instagram every day, keep up with my engagement pods, respond to comments the day after, spend at least 15 minutes in the reader each night, and start posting on Saturdays again! I’m excited to see what is ahead and feel strongly that if I dive back into it I will continue to be excited about this blogging journey every single day.
This month I have felt so good mentally and physically. Managing the baseball team with Lily has not only brought me new friends and allowed me to meet so many sweet parents but it has allowed me to feel a part of something again, given me something productive and fun to do with my time, and has been a new sport for me to come to love! I have sincerely enjoyed all of the hours I have spent on the field this month and am so excited to see where playoffs take these boys in May!
I’ve also had a little bit of cheer sprinkled in this month between clinic and a few random events and tumbling. It felt so good to have one final hoorah with my stunt group and we are closing the season off at banquet tomorrow night! Prom happened of course just last weekend and was amazing as I expected. There’s nothing better than good company, music, and feeling pretty for the night.
This month I’ve also stepped into quite a few roles for the upcoming school year. I found out that I will be Class Treasurer and Editor in Chief throughout my senior year and I am so excited about them both. I’ve also been developing new roles in a few other extracurriculars and have had a whole lot of opportunities present themselves this month that I could not be happier about. Oh, and I almost forgot that I found a school that I think would be so perfect for me. This has given me a motivation like no other and I cannot wait to see where senior year will take me in terms of choosing a college.
As a whole, I could not have asked for a better April; I feel so full right now! I know that May will too be busy and exciting and then after that comes Summer- not sure what more I could ask for!
Alright, I’ve talked far too long at this point but that’s to be excepted by now, I hope! Was your month as fantastic as mine?! I want to hear it all below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. I cannot thank you enough for the love and support! Here’s to an awesome April and an even better May. With love, McKenz
