It’s here already… the last day of the month! I say it every month but June especially flew by so quickly. I’m super pumped for July as I have high hopes for it. Today I’m rounding up all my favorites + happenings from the first month of summer. I hope you enjoy; it’s going to be a long one!
So my blogging style has been on its A game this month if I’m speaking from an honest (personal) standpoint. However, my outfit of the days have been bikinis or a baseball tee + sneakers. It’s all about balance??? I just cannot bring myself to put on makeup and get dressed everyday when I know I’ll be changing ten times anyways for blogging purposes or sitting inside typing away at my desk. However, I’ve gotten the cutest clothes recently and have loved my yellow platform espadrilles for the days I wanna get all dolled up and my Rainbow flip-flops for the days I wanna throw something on and head out the door. Square neck tanks from Old Navy have been on repeat and jewelry of all kinds have been favorites. Clip-on statement earrings to be exact- I’d talk more about all the jewelry I’m loving but you’ll have heard enough by the time you reach the end of my YouTube video.
In my video I mentioned that the Burts Bees Lip Balm is my only makeup favorite of the month… kind of a pathetic favorite especially for someone who used to consider herself a beauty blogger but I’ve neglected makeup for obvious reasons unless I’m shooting looks for the blog and in that case I’m just sticking to my usual! I’ve also been painting my nails like crazy; I mention a few Sally Hansen favorites in my video!
I’ve been off my game on this one a little bit this month. The baseball team I am currently managing tends to have games Sunday night which is when I usually head to mass so I’ve missed more weeks of church than I would like to admit. I haven’t been all that great about picking up my Bible either but I have found myself talking to God a whole lot more which I’ve decided is just as important of a habit to have.
Friends has been my main goal this month. Now that school is out I have had a lot more time to watch TV. I’m working on Season 8 and am determined to finish the show by the end of July. Don’t get me wrong, I have loved the show, but I need a change of pace and something that I am itching to watch.
It’s been a hot second since I’ve mentioned anything music related on the blog but I’ve got news for you, this is your lucky month. “Knee Deep” by Zac Brown Band has been on repeat nearly 24/7 for me. It’s just so catchy and cute and reminds me of baseball season which makes it even better. Aside from that I’ve been listening to a whole lot of country jams when tanning.
No books have been finished this month but I did just start reading At Risk by Patricia Cornwell. She is one of my favorite authors for sure so I’m excited to keep reading!
June, you were a whirlwind my friend. In many ways my month was slow; I had to take some time off after getting my wisdom teeth out to recover and to keep from scaring you all off. It turns out those few days away from the blog were really good for me. They got me reinspired and I decided it was time to stop sitting around and start working towards bigger and better things for the blog.
This of course, started with a new blog design… thanks to my beautiful momma the blog got a face lift that I couldn’t be happier about! I am already loving it and am so excited to add more user-friendly features so you can thoroughly enjoy all my content! With this new site and new inspiration brought lots of motivation. I finally got over the 3,000 follower hump on Instagram and since then I’ve been following the good ole routine of posting, utilizing hashtags, blah, blah, blah to beat the algorithm and actually seem some growth. Needless to say, it’s working! It’s amazing what hours of free time each day can do for you, LOL!
However, I knew that things would pick up once school got out- they always do. The end of the year is busy and meant for really taking all the excitement of life in. But the second summer comes I’m on my grind. I have a huge goal for July and that is to blog every single day. I know it sounds crazy but I did it last August and I loved it. It was so empowering to start something and actually finish it. Not to mention the response I received was overwhelming. Immediately after the month I decided the next August I would do the same. I still plan on following through but I have so many ideas and thoughts and rambles in my head that I’m going to give it a go for one more month (July)!
I’m so beyond excited. I’ve been working super hard on preparing content as I will be out-of-town for 16 days in July! However, I know that through the power of prayer and passion that I will be able to flourish this month in all things blogging related. I am so beyond grateful for two and a half years on this platform and hope there never comes a day where I can’t hop on here and spew out every thought that comes to mind.
June began with all of my closest friends graduating. It was a sad day for McKenz but my heart is happy to see everyone go their separate ways- I cannot wait to see all that they accomplish over the years. The school year winded down and ended a few days early for me thanks to getting my wisdom teeth out. Except not thanks because my mouth is still healing and I haven’t been able to smile a real smile in God only knows how long.
I’ve been managing the American Legion baseball team this summer and have loved it; of course, not as much as my high school team though. We secured second place in the county last night with a walk off home run from Ethan. It was exciting and it’s been a fun way to get community service hours and spend my evenings.
It seems like all my friends have been traveling to cool places or are working up a storm so the second half of this month has been rather independent like I mentioned earlier. I’ve been spending my days preparing for all the excitement I talked about in the ‘Looking Ahead/Goals’ section and sitting in the sun. I suppose there is something enjoyable about time to myself. Although, I’m so excited to be on my own adventures in July.
How has your month been; have you traveled anywhere cool, fallen in love with a new pair of shoes, discovered a new passion?! Let me know below; I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you have any questions, comments, or requests be sure to leave them below! Thanks so much for stopping by… talk soon! With love, McKenz
