Back To School Essentials 2018

It’s time I enter the accepting stage… back to school season is here and there is no denying it. Each year I share a few essentials that I could not ‘school’ without and this year I’m doing the same because you all seem to enjoy them so much + now that I’ll be a senior in high school, I think I’ve got my must haves down to a science. Enjoy!

Starting off with the shoes because they are the piece that truly makes or breaks a day for me. There’s nothing quite like a pair of shoes that can truly tie a look together that are comfortable too.

My first essential is a pair of block heels. I have five colors in this same style simply because they are so versatile. These are comfortable enough to wear with jeans and a tank for a school day or can be dressed up for a school dance; I’ve worn a pair to homecoming and prom!  I cannot say enough good things about this style of shoe. If you don’t have a pair you need one!

Another shoe necessity is a good ole pair of sneakers. Whether you are someone who likes a sportier shoe to pair with leggings or a more casual option like slip-on Vans, you are sure to find the perfect pair for you. I purchased this pair from Payless for the back to school season and already know they will be on repeat. They are backless which is perfect for me since I’m someone who tends to get blisters easily and they are a fun metallic making them an awesome option for my trendier style.

Last year I really understood the power of a plain tee. They can pair with jeans, leggings, shorts, skirts, you name it and can be styled so many different ways. My favorite is the boatneck from the Luxe line at Old Navy; they are super soft and are the perfect fit. I have a few that I know will be worn like crazy this year.

Another style favorite is dresses. I know, I know. They aren’t for everyone but I find them to be my most reached for piece throughout the school year. There’s something so effortless about them. Easy to wear, comfy, and all you have to pick out after choosing the dress you like is a pair of shoes – I mean, come on… it doesn’t get any easier than that! Old Navy, TJ Maxx, and Zaful are my favorite places to shop for them.

Sort of a weird essential, but a reusable water bottle had to be thrown into this mix. I have a gold one from TJ Maxx that holds 32 ounces of water which is my preferred size for school. This keeps water cold for hours and can easily be refilled throughout the day. By far a necessity for me! Water not only helps you stay hydrated but it keeps you focused throughout the school day.

I cannot shut up about my planner but if you knew how much I rely on this thing then you would understand why. I’m not one who likes to keep things organized electronically (pen and paper are where it’s at!) so this bad boy keeps me on track. With all my classes and extracurriculars the largest size Happy planner is the only man for the job. I would truly be lost without this planner and cannot wait for the series where I will begin sitting down to share my weekly spreads with you!

I have just a few last beauty favorites that I wanted to include. There aren’t many ‘extra’ things I keep in my backpack but I’ve found over the years that these are ones I can’t live without. Chapstick. It’s needed and appreciated and always wanted at the most random times. Keep one with you at all times and you will thank yourself later. Lotion. I can’t tell you how many times I have found myself needing some for my ashy legs throughout the day. Deodorant. Nothing worse than forgetting to put some on in the morning or feeling stinky midway through the day. Keep some with you at all times; you never know when you may find yourself needing some.
