It’s crazy to think that yesterday was my last first day of high school! I do a Get Ready With Me every year upon request and decided there was no reason why I shouldn’t share my hair, makeup, and outfit with you this year. After all, I love first day of school fashion and this is the perfect post to close out my back to school series for the year. So, with all that being said, let’s hop right into my first day of senior year.
Washed my hair, as usual, the night before school and let it air dry before going to bed. Woke up and decided to throw in my everyday curls. I use a 1.5″ curling iron and rotate directions in which I curl each strand to keep all of the curls from clumping together. This takes me about ten minutes and I end up wearing these curls (plus some dry shampoo) for the next two-three days.
I finished off the look by spraying the Got 2 B Glued Freeze Blast Hairspray to keep the curls in place and then ran my fingers through my hair a few times.
Didn’t have time to sit down and take pictures of the makeup in-depth but I decided to go for my everyday makeup look. I spiced things up just a tad by adding some warm toned shadows from the Morphe 9B palette. To pair with the warm hues on the eyes, I made sure to highlight with the shade ‘Precious petals’ from Wet N Wild and use a favorite lippie of mine, the Buxom Full-On Lipstick in the shade ‘Brooklynn’.
I received this jumpsuit as a part of my August Zaful package and instantly knew that it was the most perfect first day of school jumpsuit. The mustard color is by far one of my favorites, especially with the remaining summer tan. Yellow gives off a fun, nostalgic summer vibe while hinting towards the fall months. I thought that the style was fun, different, and trendy – three things I look for when choosing a first day of school outfit. Obviously, nobody had anything like the jumpsuit and it was something I felt confident in.
The ankle length of the pants definitely called for a heel of some sort but I reached for these chestnut wedges as they were the perfect chunkiness and the color complimented the warm hue of the jumpsuit so well.
I accessorized with my favorite gold statement earrings, my Kendra Scott necklace, and gold cuff. It all came together so well; I’m obsessed!
It was a bittersweet first day of school knowing next year Madison and I will be starting school miles and miles away from one another for the first time ever. I suppose we will dwell on that when the time comes. For all my ladies that started school this week, how was your first day? I’d love to know below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Thanks for the love!
With love, McKenz
