Hey, everyone and welcome back to StyledbyMcKenz! Today I’m introducing a new series to you called Dressing Room Diaries. It’s no secret that I shop a lot. I justify it because I wear a lot more clothes than the average person, am constantly selling clothes to make room for new, and like to share the latest trends here on the blog. You guys love my hauls, but I decided, wouldn’t it be fun to take you around to my favorite stores from time to time and share with you my full shopping experience?!
It’s been raining nonstop here lately, so yesterday I decided to pick my butt up and head to TJ Maxx in hopes to find something that would be content worthy there. Sure enough, I came up with this brilliant idea while strolling through the store! Today I’m sharing with you everything I brought into the dressing room, what I tried on, a few outfit ideas, and what I decided to take home with me. I’m super excited about this post so I hope you enjoy!
Let me start by saying that my TJ Maxx was popping yesterday! Everything was super adorable and I managed to find all sorts of pieces that will be super trendy this fall. Sometimes you get lucky; remember that their inventory is constantly changing so if you had no luck one week, go back the next!
Every girl needs a few of these in her fall wardrobe. They are awesome for layering, whether it be with a cute tunic under, a coat over top, or a chunky scarf. The slouchier the better.
Found this adorable one and loved the color of it. I’m not a huge brown girl, so this beautiful taupe was a nice compromise. Paired with jeans and a cute pair of booties this sweater would be fabulous.
Something about this trend I am drawn to and I’m not sure why. It gives me very, watered down from the runway vibes and TJ Maxx had tons of this circling around.
This sweater was too cute but I couldn’t justify the price for something I knew I wouldn’t get all that much use out of. However, the mustard stars almost made me cave. Just look at how cute it is!!!
Statement sleeves have been around for a few years now but the lantern sleeves are coming at you in full force this season. I’ve seen them on everything from fancy blouses to casual sweatshirts. They are a fun way to spice up an everyday look.
This blush sweater was so soft and the sleeves were huge. The bigger the better I suppose. There’s something super fun about this sweater. Hoping to snag it once it goes on clearance, I have a feeling this isn’t something that will be gone within a week. It’s definitely a piece that takes a little confidence to rock.
Warm hues obviously scream all things fall + pumpkin spice. Dusters are also big as they are a fun spin on the classic cardigan.
This three-quarter length tee was too cute. I loved the color of it but it was a little too see through for my liking. I’m not one who likes wearing camis underneath things ! I’ve never been drawn to dusters but this one was seriously the softest thing ever. I have nothing like this and it was only $12.99; therefore, I’m currently asking myself why I didn’t’ purchase it. Paired with a warm-hued tee, jeans, and over the knees, this outfit would be bomb!
Do I even have to explain why this piece is trending? Can a basic tee even be ‘trendy’? I think at this point, it’s just an essential for the fall wardrobe. Layer these bad boys up or wear them as you seamlessly transition from summer to fall.
This burnt orange one came home with me. The neckline on it was super flattering and the hue looked amazing on my skin tone. This was my second time trying on the striped tee and it was the second time I left it behind. Everything in me wants this tee. It’s soft, it’s adorable, and it’s got every color under the sun on it making it super versatile. However, I have so many clothes that I’m just not sure I can justify the $9.99 price tag. Fingers crossed this one will go on clearance soon because I’m having withdrawals from it….
Cardigans are a fall must-have. They are practical and cozy and are perfect for seriously every fall activity. You can’t go wrong with denim either. It’s a favorite of mine for obvious reasons and never fails. Flares are big again this year which makes my heart flutter as I’m a statement girl at heart.
I have a cardigan just like this one that I picked up from TJ Maxx years ago. There aren’t many things I wear week after week because of the abundance of clothes I have but that cardigan was constantly on repeat. Unfortunately, because I’ve shown it so much love, it’s seen it’s time. I was soooo excited when I found this almost identical one yesterday. I like it a bit better because it’s softer and a bit longer. I knew I needed it the second I put it on. Paired with flares and a cute tee this is an awesome example of a school day outfit in October. Mules are the shoe I’d slip on to finish off the look.
We’ve seen plaid hit the racks yet again this fall but in different ways then we’re used to. Don’t get me wrong, flannels are still a favorite for everyone but paper bag pants, blazers, and workwear made casual are all the rage right now.
I picked up this blazer only because I wanted to share this fall trend with you guys but ended up loving the way it looked on me. It’s fitted in all the right places and looked super cute on my petite silhouette. I’m not a fan of the white tee I tried on with it but I thought with bootcut jeans and a fancy mule this blazer would be perfect. Not to mention, it can easily be dressed up for a work environment, or down for a fun street style vibe. Can’t wait to wear this some more!
You need long sleeve layering pieces. Period.
I have so many clothes but I feel like I’ve really never had a good ‘basics’ selection. It’s something I’m trying to work on this season, especially because they are pieces I always find myself needing. These tunics were so soft and only $6.99 each. I could easily think of five different ways to wear them which is always a sign that it’s coming home with me. I can’t wait to style these; whether it be with a pair of leggings and chunky sneakers or jeans and over the knee boots.
I’ve considered doing a ‘Shop With Me’ at TJ Maxx because I get questions all the time about how I find such good things there so if you’d be interested in seeing that, be sure to let me know. Anyway, what did you think of this post? Is this something you’d be interested in seeing more of?! I want to know all your thoughts so be sure to leave them below! Can’t wait to style my purchases some more for you over the next couple of weeks.
With love, McKenz
