And just like that it’s October first. Time is flying this year! Fell back into the school routine this month which made for some changes in all aspects of life. Today, of course, I’m sitting down to share with you this month’s favorites + happenings. Get comfy; it’s going to be a long one!
Oh, how I adore September fashion. There’s nothing better than going back to school with a fresh tan + a closet full of new clothes to debut. Although I haven’t got the outfit of the day picture routine mastered just yet, I’ve been wearing some fabulous outfits (if I do say so myself) to school lately. I wore tons of jumpsuits and dresses, taking the eighty-degree weather in at my advantage. Statement earrings were my go-to’s and dainty gold jewelry almost always lined my neck. My orange Tory Burch Miller Sandals were the most fun to style and block heels easily completed almost every outfit of the month. Yellow was worn whenever the extra boost of confidence was needed… some things aren’t meant to change.
I didn’t try out anything new in the makeup world this month, therefore, my favorites for this category are few and far between right now. However, in this YouTube video, I shared my updated everyday makeup routine for the school year; it’s pretty basic but highly requested! Although, similar to August, I found myself reaching for my Dry Bar rollers like crazy. They are perfect for my second-day hair along with the Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo or for a morning when a little extra volume is needed. Definitely going to be keeping these two in the rotation over the next few months.
God has tested me in every aspect of life this month and that has been abundantly clear. I have been reminded this month more than any other this month to be grateful for this present moment. To be glad for what I have and not wishful for what I do not. To pray each night, whether things are going my way or not. To find joy in everything, no matter how big or small. To turn His way under every circumstance; for his advice holds the most value.
I have watched not one single episode of television this month. I have had no time for outside entertainment whatsoever. Occasionally I’ll pop on a YouTube video for some background noise but most days I’ve found myself listening to Dan and Shay Radio or Zac Brown Band on my Amazon Alexa.
I am reading though! Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri is the book I’ve been required to read for my AP Literature class this month and surprisingly, I have really enjoyed it. I’ve always loved time to relax and spend reading- I always appreciate when a school book is genuinely interesting and exciting to read each night.
I had such a rewarding July and August, blogging 66 days straight. However, September brought back reality and my only hope for the month was to remain consistent. In some ways I followed through with this and in others I did not. I haven’t felt nearly as involved in the blog lately but that’s a feeling that is all too familiar once school starts up.
October brings some of my favorite content ideas of the year. Although it’s also the busiest month of the school year for me, I hope that I can manage my priorities in order to devote as much time and hard work to this platform. It is truly my stress reliever and excitement throughout the school year. I do have a few goals for the month that I want to share in order to hold myself accountable. The first being to post every single day on Instagram. I slack off on this towards the end of the week but know how important it is in driving traffic to my blog and building my brand. I also want to host a giveaway this month to give back to all my supportive girls out their. And my final goal is to try to post on Saturdays. I go back and forth with my posting schedule during the school year but this month I want to try my hardest to make time for this one; it’s something that makes me so proud and I’m craving that sense of accomplishment more than ever right now.
September fourth I headed back to school and things have quickly fallen back into routine. I have six classes for my Senior Year – AP Economics, AP Statistics, Honors Journalism, AP Psychology, AP US History and AP Literature. I’m drowning in work all the time but I know that my schedule will pay off in the long run. However, as of right now my time is completely consumed. I intern at a local consignment store for my last period of the day which is the highlight of my days. I love it so much and cannot wait to share more about it in October.
Cheer has been go go go and we jump into competition season in just a couple of weeks. Mother Nature cannot make up her mind which has left us cheering on Saturdays rather than Friday nights which has made me sad. I want my Senior year to be so special but it’s been rather unconventional so far. I have faith that it will get better this month.
I haven’t had too much free time but the time I do have has been spent relaxing, blogging, and watching Chase play in Fall ball baseball games. I’m excited for October as it brings a different sort of chaos that is stressful yet pleasing all at the same time. I’m excited for a fresh start as September tested me beyond my limits.
How about you? Are you looking forward to the fresh start? I want to hear all about your month in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Thanks so much for tuning in for today’s rambles. Love you all endlessly.
With love, McKenz
always love reading your updates!
