Happy Halloween! Seriously how is it already the last day of October?! This year just doesn’t seem to wanna slow down. Today I’m sitting down to share all the details from this month with you; it was a month full of chaos and good fashion!
October in Maryland really threw me for a loop. The first half of the month was super hot, with temperatures in the eighties still which allowed me the freedom to wear whatever dresses, jumpsuits, and skirts my heart desired. Although I do love fall fashion, I wasn’t complaining about the additional sunshine. However, in my blog posts, I spent the majority of the month trying to style fall trends and dress as if it was chilly out! The temperatures have officially dropped all at once and suddenly it’s thirty-five degrees when I wake up in the morning, so I’m sure my November favorites will seem a little more fitting. Because I spent most of the month in dressier styles, I wore block heels like crazy. This style has been my go-to for years now as they are super comfortable, easy to walk in, and instantly add some length to your legs. I also have loved my brown, cut-out booties from Target. I styled them tons on the blog this month and have been wearing them almost every weekend. One last fashion related favorite – my statement earrings! I’ve been wearing fun clip ons like crazy but my gold and rose gold pairs are by far my favorites out of my collection. They are such a fun addition to any outfit and pair perfectly with my everyday Kendra Scott necklace, watch, and gold cuff from Target.
Our local rite Aid went out of business this month so I found myself picking up lots of beauty products throughout the weeks. The Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Leave-In Conditioner finally made it’s way back into my shower routine. I used to use this in middle school but strayed away from it for some unknown reason. I am so glad I rediscovered this product as it revives my dry ends at the end of the week and leaves my hair feeling super soft. The Covergirl True Blend Foundation was a makeup favorite from this month. I have a couple of go-to foundations but this one was under $3 at Rite Aid and was the perfect shade for me so I decided to pick it up. It’s definitely a lighter weight foundation which is a nice change of pace for me although it still has really nice coverage! The shade matches me perfectly, especially after a spray tan. I’ll definitely be keeping this foundation in my rotation. My last beauty favorites are the Wet N Wild Mega Last Lipsticks. These are under $2 and are the prettiest nude, matte lipsticks. They last for hours, are super comfortable, and look good with any eyeshadow look!
My faith has felt tested in every aspect this month. God hears our prayers. Each and every one of them. However, when we do not get the answer we were hoping for, we often get upset and cry out, asking ‘why is the Lord not hearing my prayers?’. Perhaps, we should spend more time understanding that God is answering our prayers regardless of how we choose to interpret them. Just because He is not answering in the way we want him to, does not mean He isn’t answering… some food for thought as we close out this rocky month.
I haven’t had more than three hours of spare time this month, or so it feels like. Therefore, this section is rather dry as far as the favorites go. Riverdale did just come back on and I’m totally loving taking time to sit down and watch it each week when it’s on real TV! Aside from that, I haven’t found myself watching any TV whatsoever. Country music has been filling my ears and the only book I’ve been reading is Hemingway for AP Literature… talk about boring, lol!
I found myself so consumed with life this month that I wasn’t able to meet my own standards in this aspect. As much as it disappoints me, I know all too well that this season of life is supposed to be lived in the moment. I fell short in a lot of goals, especially in posting five times a week but that’s alright because I’m coming in strong for November! I’ve got lots of exciting content planned for this month and with the holidays right around the corner, I’ll be a busy bee blogging up a storm for you!
I know it may seem early but I’ve been considering doing Blogmas, or at least trying to. I’ve never done it before and I feel like my last December spent at home might be a fun year to partake in it. However, completely Blogmas is tons of work so if this is something you’d be interested in, let me know now so I can get to work!
In November I’m working towards creating better habits, upping my Instagram presence, and spending more time in the WordPress reader!
October really gave me a run for my money. There were lots of big, monumental moments in the month – Senior Homecoming, three cheer competitions, Counties week, 50 straight wins for the football team, some exciting news that I can’t share just yet! But with all of that has come a lot of go, go, go each and every day. Turns out that: 5 AP classes your Senior year will, in fact, challenge you in ways you’ve never been challenged before, being an athlete is hard work, friends aren’t necessary but they make life a lot more enjoyable, going to bed an hour early may be the best medicine for you, weekends were meant for catching up, writing your feelings out, and shopping at TJ Maxx.
Hoping that I can end my final cheer season with a bang these next few weeks. I know life will slow down a bit once cheer competition season slows down and I’m looking forward to that breath of fresh air. This year is flying, friends! I’m stuck between wanting it to slow down and feeling excited about the future – I suppose that’s how most would sum up there teen years.
(I smile now knowing that years from now I’ll look back at this and realize how small my problems were despite feeling so big at the time. How crazy cool it is to have this space as my own little online diary.)
Grateful for all of you reading each and every day. Here’s to a kick butt November on its way!
With love, McKenz
