Based on the photos and title, you’re probably guessing that this blog post is going to be something related to my fitness goals for the New Year. News flash, it’s not.
I’m big on New Year’s resolutions, goal setting, and the whole ‘clean slate’ stigma, but I’m never one to choose something related to fitness. So if that’s why you clicked into today’s blog post, I am truly sorry. However, I am teaming up with Yogalicious to share the cutest new workout set as well as my brand related (+ a few miscellaneous) goals for 2019.
I think a lot of times we find ourselves consumed by the idea that we must look a certain way to fit a specific image. These are such toxic thoughts to be consumed by but I find that we all have them. “I wish I was stronger.” “I wish I was skinnier.” I wish I was this. I wish I was that. The grass is always greener, my friends.
Rather than setting a goal to work out three times a week, which let’s be real – I’ll never stick to, I’m choosing to be kinder to myself. Remember ‘health’ is not just in our physical activity or the food we consume, it’s also in the way we choose to speak to ourselves. So I’m going to compliment myself. I’m going to (try to) appreciate my flaws that others see as beauty. To feed myself good words, for those ‘calories’ carry the most nutrition.
As I embark on my fourth year of blogging – yes you read that right, I want to take my focus off of the follower count and center it more on the view count. For ultimately, it’s how many people are actually clicking into your site to read and share your content that matters. This number is huge for me, especially because it’s almost doubling what I’ve done in the last three years combined, but based on my last two months’ this is a pretty realistic projection of where I should be come January of 2020.
I set my goals very high last year and landing twenty brand deals was one of the few I actually met. It was so crazy rewarding. There’s truly no greater feeling than a professional company believing in you. I’m upping my numbers this year to 32, which is roughly three deals per month.
I want to clarify that working with the same company each month does not count as a separate number which means I’ve got some major hustling to do this year. However, between graduating high school, turning eighteen, and starting college, I feel this one is very doable if I put my mind to it.
As I wrote StyledbyMcKenz Turns Three, I was consumed by the overwhelming feeling of ‘oh my god’. I’m not even sure if that’s considered a feeling but it felt like one in the moment. I realized then more than ever that I’m following my dreams at sveenteen-years-old. There are people who go their entire lives without doing so. In 2019 I want to keep following my dreams. Keep chasing my passion. Keep fueling my fire.
I’d set a subscriber goal for this one but honestly I want to grow my YouTube in more ways than just subscribers – in views and in videos as well. I’m pretty inconsistent when it comes to uploading on my YouTube channel and that’s mainly because I’ve always used the platform as a way to simply expand on specific blog posts; however, I would really love to expand my channel as I find myself feeling so natural when talking in front of a camera.
The road to 10k is real y’all but it’s a struggle! Aiming to spend more time on Instagram this year interacting with other boss babes from all around the world. Insta is truly one of my favorite platforms because I get to connect with thousands of people. I’m hoping to up my game this year and spend more time engaging with others. After all, they all say it’s the only way to see real growth.
Everyone always says what a useful outlet Pinterest is in gaining blog momentum but I find myself pushing this platform to the back burner most often. However, I could spend hours sifting through the pretty photos. Going to try to make a habit out of sitting down a few times a month to pin my own content that way it’s available to a whole new audience.
I’ve always been one to have a (pretty) consistent schedule/routine when it comes to my business. Therefore, this goal may seem like an odd one to throw into the mix. It’s for months down the line when I finally head to college. It sounds silly, but one of my biggest fears about moving hundreds of miles from home is my business failing. I’ve spent years of hard work trying to build my brand but I’ve done it with the most supportive, patient, and willing family by my side. I’m anxious thinking about being away from them and having to find new people who are willing to contribute to my dreams. I’m praying that I won’t break my good habits once I’m living a whole new life in Ohio.
It’s time y’all. I’m itching to connect with other bloggers in real life. One of my goals is to be able to meet up and shoot photos with other girls in the blogging industry! I’m not sure how this one will pan out, but I hope it does.
Many of you know that I’m currently Editor-In-Chief of my school’s newspaper which has been a crazy rewarding experience. We publish our third edition next week and I could not be more excited. However, a huge goal of mine for 2019 is to be published in a magazine. Whether that’s a feature for StyledbyMcKenz or my own writing in a Kent State magazine… we shall see.
This year I want to start putting my words into actions. Rather than sitting around talking about what I want to do, I want to get up and start working! I’ve come to the sudden realization these last couple of weeks that the power to succeed is in my own hands. My toolbox may be missing just a couple of pieces, but it’s time to get innovative and use what tools I do have to my own advantage.
I want to be so good that everyone who doubted me starts wishing they’d invested in me.
I’m so ready to see where 2019 will take me. While I know it’s going to be the most influential year on my personal growth (whether I like it or not), I know that the power for it to be the most influential year on my brand’s growth lies in my own two hands.
Whether your goals are centered around getting more fit or simply building your brand, you need a new Yoglaicious workout set. Their Nude Tech Fabric has a soft, peached finish making their pieces super comfortable if you’re lounging and durable if you’re working.
