Prom Must Haves

I’ve officially got less than two weeks until my senior prom and I couldn’t be more excited! Today I’m sitting down to chat about all of my must haves for the night. I’m covering everything from makeup essentials, to my self tanning favorites, to where to find affordable jewelry. If you’re looking to do some last minute preparation for the big day, you’re definitely in the right place. Let’s get started!

The Must Haves

• A Dress You Feel Gorgeous In— Finding a dress you feel gorgeous in is so important. I’ve spent the last few months sharing all sorts of dresses from designer to two piece to affordable. If you’re still looking for a dress be sure to check out my prom series.  I encourage you to find a dress that you feel comfortable and confident in!
• Comfortable Heels— Comfortable heels are an absolute must. I always reach for a block heel. Invest in a pair and you will seriously be thanking yourself as they are perfect for dances, dates, and dinners. It’s important not to have a stick heel to avoid sinking into the grass during photos + block heels are super comfortable when dancing.
• Got2B Glued Freeze Blast Hairspray— I’ve raved about this hairspray for years. It’s the absolute best if you’re looking for something to keep your hair in place for hours on end. Under $10 too!
• A Fun Hair Accessory— Last year I kept my hair curled and in a flowercrown. The crown was the perfect accessory and definitely spiced up my plain hair. I’m not 100% positive what I’m going to be doing with my hair this year but I know I want to wear an accessory. A little hair clip can add so much to your look.
• Mystic Tan 2-in-1 Bronzing Duo— I’ve been getting tons of questions about my tanning for prom shoots and dances. When I don’t get a spray tan from Hair Razors (watch video for full details if you’re local to me), I use this Mystic Tan lotion. You apply it as you would a normal lotion after showering. Within two uses it leaves me as dark as if I had gotten a spray tan which is crazy! It has minimal smell, doesn’t transfer, and isn’t patchy.
• The Right Foundation— Finding the right foundation for you is so important. Three of my favorites are the Wet N Wild Photo Focus, Maybelline Fit Me, and the Laura Mercier Flawless Full Coverage. I go into detail on why each foundation is a good option so make sure to watch!
• A Good Primer— You cannot go without a face primer on prom night! You wouldn’t want your makeup sliding around once on the dance floor. Choosing one that works best for your skin will leave your face looking flawless all night long.
• Mac Fix Plus— If you’re doing your makeup yourself I highly recommend this stuff! It makes your eyeshadow and highlighter pop big time and gives a more glam feel to your overall look. I cannot say enough good things about this product!
• The Perfect Highlighter— Highlighter is an absolute must for prom. Nothing is better than looking glowy in the light! Wet N Wild has some of the best highlighters on the market and they are under $5 which is a total steal. I wore the shade ‘Golden Flower Crown’ last year and got tons of compliments.
• LipSense— If you’re looking for a lip product that will last for hours and won’t transfer throughout the night, LipSense is your best bet. I don’t love the formula of this stuff as it does require reapplying the gloss over top but it really does do the job and they have some beautiful shades!
• Ardel Demi Whispies 105— Fake eyelashes are high up there on my list of products I cannot go without. They completely transform your look and boost my confidence a ton. I rave about these Ardel lashes all the time. They are glam without being too much!
• Wal-Mart Earrings— My secret to adorable earrings is buying them from Wal-Mart. They have the best $4 styles and they get 20+ new pairs seasonally. I always pick up a handful to add to my collection. The earrings that I’ve worn for every prom shoot have been from here and they totally complete my look.
