If you’ve been following along with my Instagram stories you’d know that it’s fall break for Kent State. I decided to come home for a few days and am spending time with the fam, catching up on some work from the comfort of my own home, and am celebrating Chase’s birthday a week early.
I love school and have had such a good adjustment to college life so far but I cannot explain the overwhelming relief I felt when I walked off the plane Wednesday night. Living in another state on your own will open a whole new perspective and make you appreciate home so much more. And although I love Ohio, I couldn’t be happier to be where I’m from.
I’ve talked a lot about balancing school and the blog lately. I will admit it’s really tough some days, but it is so rewarding to be doing both. Not only to be doing both but to be succeeding in both and to really love the work I’m doing in both areas of life. And as much as I love all the architecture that my photos bring to the table now that I’m at school, I’ve missed the greenery and homey feel to my backyard photos.
It wouldn’t be right to come for a few days and not have my mom snap a few photos around my go-to spots. Everything is decorated for fall time and with Halloween right around the corner, it feels extra festive here. I obviously had to take my picture with it all.
I couldn’t believe the number of clothes I came home to. I mean, I know I had a lot of clothes left in my Maryland closet but boy were there options I forgot even existed! This cute white dress from SheIn was patiently waiting to be worn when I arrived. It’s been absolutely gorgeous out— sunny and seventy since I’ve been here so a long-sleeved dress is just what the forecast called for. This is a perfect weight and the cutest little white dress. Perfect for various different occasions and an awesome price too!
I love the higher neckline and the cute belt cinches the waist perfectly. I love these shoes so much but left them in Maryland. I was so excited to wear them when I got home because they are the perfect little mule. My olive green floppy hat has been going strong for a few years now and is another favorite I left behind but wish I hadn’t. It was such a treat to wear it today.

I’m also nice and tan. I stopped by Hair Razors in town yesterday to get a spray tan for a little extra glow while I’m in town. They have a Mystic Tan booth that makes the spray tanning process so easy. In and out in less than five minutes, no streaks, and only $25. I always get the shade ‘Dazzling Dark’ and it looks fabulous this time around. If you’re local make sure to stop by and get sprayed before homecoming next weekend.
I wish I was going to be home for homecoming weekend but I am going to be enjoying this time while I’m here. Anywho, that’s going to be all for today’s post— just something short and sweet. I’ve got a few errands to run and a paper to finish this afternoon so I can relax and enjoy the rest of this weekend. I’m so happy to be home; I missed it so much more than I thought.
With love, McKenz
