Styling A Racer Tee

A few months back my roomie, Emma, asked me to pick her up a car print graphic tee for her NASCAR themed date party. I agreed and picked out one that literally said “NASCAR” on it. She ended up missing the event so I was stuck with the shirt. Trying to step out of my comfort zone one morning, I tried the shirt on. It’s safe to say I never looked back.

Since then, I have worn the shirt a handful of times and have even taken it upon myself to pick up a few more graphic tees with cars printed on them. There’s something so enticing to me about styling a graphic, especially one with as edgy of a vibe as the ones I’m sharing with you today. As I navigate fashion school I’ve been compelled to experiment with new styles and try out items I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards. Today I’m sharing three edgier and how I style a racer tee.

Two-Toned

Again, these pants were an item that one of my roommates actually requested. I’m pretty sure all four of us have worn them by now— they are just so fun and different. These have a really nice fit to them; they synch at the waist with the help of a chain detailed belt. The legs aren’t super baggy so they have a more flattering fit for joggers.

This graphic tee instantly caught my eye. With it being two-toned, I thought this tee was just so cool— an unexpected twist on your everyday tee. The Hot Wheels graphic printed on the front made this super unique. To play off the silver belt, I added these Topshop booties that I scored at Nordstrom Rack a few years back for just $7. They are totally out there, but I love reaching for them when styling edgier looks. These aviator sunglasses from Discount Glasses totally complete this outfit idea.

Camo Lover 

You know me and my camo addiction! I had to grab these as I thought they would be the perfect “college” pants. As a fashion student, wearing this combination to class would be oh so normal, but for sorority events, parties, and other activities around campus, these cargo pants could definitely come in handy! I have them in the pink camo too but opted for the grey, black, and white for a more neutral color palette.

This tee has an SS car on it and I just love the flame detailing on it. My dad got a kick out of me wearing this tee to breakfast the other week! I added some chunky white sneakers to the outfit to finish it off. Those same sunnies and a pair of gold hoops were just the accessories this outfit needed. Can’t go wrong with sneakers and a tee + with cargo pants, you feel like you’re wearing sweats but look so much more put together.

Leather Pants

I wore this outfit out to lunch the other week simply because I was in the edgy mood and I received tons of compliments from you guys after posting it to Instagram. I knew I had to throw this look into the mix because it was the whole reason I wanted to create this post in the first place. This is the NASCAR tee I mentioned earlier in the post and I just love it. It’s got some awesome colors in it and is just an easy tee to wear. Perfect for going to class, lounging around, or the date party that Emma originally intended it to be for.

And don’t worry, I’m not a fake fan. I watched NASCAR races every weekend with my dad back in the day, so this tee seemed fitting for my edgy outfit kick. These leather paper bag pants are an absolute must. My mom grabbed these when she chose my SheIn haul and I love them to death! They are extremely unique and yet oh so trendy at the moment. Dress em up with a pair of heeled white booties and you’ve got a classier twist on a grunge tee.
