Tons of you have been messaging me lately saying you’re lacking outfit inspiration when it comes to getting dressed and ready for class. Don’t worry, we all go through that morning slump. Luckily, I’m here today to share a handful of outfit combinations that never fail me.
A sweater and jeans is probably my most reached for outfit combination when it comes to choosing something for class. I tend to reach for either solid, neutral colors like black and white or the complete opposite side of the spectrum, something bright and printed like this fun star sweater. Slipping on jeans is always a no brainer for me. This is one of my favorite every day pairs from Express. My shoe choice is ultimately left to how much walking I’ve got going on that day. If all I’ve got is one class and it’s right across the street, I’ll reach for a pair of booties like this white pair from SheIn. Not the most practical shoe for everyone, I know, but as a fashion student, I’d say this is a pretty accurate representation of what most students wear on a day to day basis.

Running late and don’t know what to slip on? Black on black is always the first thing that comes to mind when I find myself in that situation. I have a gazillion black bodysuits and slipping one on with my favorite black jeans is the best I can do some days. Sneakers are super easy when you’re running late and they are comfortable for long walks across campus— plus, white chunky sneaks are still trending across campus. Once you’ve got a simple “base” layer on, grab a statement piece. At this stage, I tend to reach for puffers, faux fur, or something structured. In this case, to make things a little bit professional, I’m throwing on a blazer. Now you look classy with a twist of edgy. Add a matching belt and some hoops to make it look like you really ~tried~ and you’re good to go.

My other instinct is to reach for something printed. Whether it be a sweater, coat, or pair of shoes, I find that a printed piece is a good place to start. Once you choose this item, it’s really easy to pick the rest of your outfit. Another pro tip in my book is tying the print back in some other area throughout the look; in this case, I went with a matching belt. For the rest of the look, I tend to slip on my basics— jeans, a white tank, and a chunky black cardigan to keep me warm. I love the bubble sleeves on this sweater and think they make the perfect, subtle statement.

I’ll admit, even fashion students just want to wear leggings some days. My way around it: wearing faux leather. I got these bad boys for Christmas and have been wearing them a ton ever since. (Surprisingly), they give you the comfort of normal leggings yet they look so chic and trendy. They do run a tad large so I would recommend sizing down. Throw on an oversized sweater and some sneaker style booties and you’ve got an easy peasy (yet adorable) outfit for those days when you just can’t be bothered to put thought into your look.

I know that these outfits were mainly geared towards things to wear to class but I just had to throw this one into the mix if you’re looking for some going out outfit inspiration. I know the “dress code” for nightlife is different depending on where you go to school but for here, this outfit could totally fly. I love this leather mini skirt and think the silver accents and pockets are such fun touches. I tend to stick with black on black when I go out since it’s super easy and slimming. To dress this combo up a bit, I added some sock booties. These obviously aren’t frat party-ready but for dinner with the girls, a birthday send-off, or a Brewhouse setting these could totally work.
