Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen cold before but nothing quite like the frigid temperatures of Ohio. Being a student at Kent State, this is my first winter in the snow belt and man have I been in for a rude awakening. I couldn’t even count on my two hands the number of times I wore a jacket to high school let alone a parka. And snow boots; forget that! I swore on my life that I’d never be caught dead in a pair before coming to school.
Don’t worry folks, I have quickly come to my senses. Jambu has hooked me up with five of the cutest pairs of boots to get me through this winter weather. Today I’m sharing my latest picks and sharing how I’m dressing for the freezing cold temperatures.
Be sure to check out this video. Not only am I reviewing each pair of boots I received, but I’m sharing how to layer up for the winter. I’ve got it down by now and am ready to pass along my best tips and tricks! Be sure to give this video a like if you want to see more videos this style.
I am so sad that these snow booties are already out of stock because they are truly one of kind. With no laces, this slip-on style bootie is going to become a staple in my closet. Not only are these super comfortable but they are so practical for quickly slipping on and heading out the door. I will totally be reaching for these all winter long when I need something for a quick errand like grabbing my mail or dinner with a friend.
Aside from the shoes, my first layering tip is to double on jackets. I love my parka but there are days I just don’t feel like wearing such a long coat or I just want something a bit trendier. Because puffers, bombers, and teddy coats tend to be on the thinner side, these are an awesome option to wear paired with one another.
If you want a simple jeans and a sweater combination for class, which trust me- we all need thee days sometimes, go for something cashmere. I just recently received this sweater and I’ve already reached for it on multiple occasions. This material is so warm and provides an added layer without having to double up on shirts underneath. Slip-on jeans and a matching beanie and you’ve totally completed this look.
Outfit Details— jackets: SheIn and TJ Maxx, sweater: State Cashmere, jeans: Hollister, socks: Kohls, booties: Jambu, hat: C.C.
This snow boot style is by far the most popular amongst the Mid-West. Bloggers did a fantastic job of making this style blow up last year. And while retailers like Sorell are charging upward of $200, Jambu offers a similar style for under $50— you can’t beat that, especially if you’re a college student. These boots are super durable and will keep your foot crazy warm without overheating once you’ve made it to your final destination. I so wish I had these during last year’s baseball season… I spent far too many practices freezing my toes off in my Hunter boots.
These are so worth picking up and are essential for trekking across campus in all the snowy slush that winters have to offer here in Ohio. I swear 90% of the fashion school owns a pair of these by now.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge vest girl but I can’t deny that they keep me super warm. Faux fur is super stylish and looks adorable paired with the faux fur lining along the top of these boots. Not to mention this added layer keeps my torso super warm. If you don’t have a parka yet, it’s time to invest in one. I know they can be pricey but they are worth every penny. I don’t think I’d be able to survive without having a knee-length coat. Mine is from Eddie Bauer and I seriously wear this baby like it is my job on days I have class.

This pair is up there on my list of favorites! I mean come on— snow boots with animal print. Count me in! I’m a sucker for anything snakeskin so when I saw that Jambu was able to put such a fun twist on my favorite style boot, I knew I had to grab them. These boots are super similar in style to the classic LL Bean boot but they are far more comfortable. The light microfiber terry lining that covers the interior of all these boots is soft enough to keep your feet from rubbing as you walk across campus and will keep them super warm too.
I love these so much more than the previous duck boots I owned. They are far cuter and much more affordable. I know that cold weather brings out the lazy in a lot of us, especially college students. You don’t have to ditch your sweats to stay stylish. I picked up this adorable matching jogger set from Boohoo a couple of weeks ago and think it’s just the cutest way to bum it out. Paired with a trendy snow boot, you look like you really put some thought into your look despite simply slipping this combo on in the morning.
My pro tip for wanting to wear loose sweats: layer leggings and a turtleneck bodysuit underneath. This base layer will provide just the layer you need for those days when temperatures are hardly creeping into the single digits and you’ve got 5+ miles of walking to your classes. Earmuffs are my new favorite winter weather accessory and are perfect if you’re looking to keep your freshly washed locks in order.

You know all too well if you’ve been following me for a while that I’m a sucker for an all-black look. These all-black snow boots make getting dressed super easy. These booties are the perfect height for everyday wear. They are super lightweight compared to some of the other styles and with a slim fit, they feel more like your typical booties than a pair of snow boots. However, these shoes can definitely handle some salt and slush— their just doing it in style.
I’m telling you, a turtleneck and leggings are my go-to, whether it’s your base layer or your outfit. I’ve got the same bodysuit as before layered underneath my new black cashmere turtleneck sweater. This double layer provides major warmth and is so cozy. If you’re only wanting to wear one layer of leggings, go for something fleece lined. these will keep the wind from blowing right through your pants.
Winter fashion doesn’t have to be redundant. Mix and match your accessories to keep your look fun and fresh. I absolutely love matching my beanie to my boots. This black hat is from the brand C.C. and is definitely one of my favorites. A cute scarf will keep your neck warm and don’t let my bare hands fool you— gloves are a must too. Touch screen kind are lifesavers!

If you’re looking for an in-between snow boot, these are the ones to reach for. They’re not a super tall style, however, they’re not the shortest either. These are a great in-between boot that will easily get you through the winter. These look similar to your classic duck boot but have a bit more fur lining the top of them making them super plush and cozy. These will keep your foot so warm despite having a rubber sole to keep your feet from getting wet.
If you’re having a super cold day on campus, try layering tights or leggings under your jeans. Sophie form @thechicflamingo told me this was the only way she survived the cold last winter. I will admit, it’s not the comfiest in comparison to your typical outfit but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
Floor-length fur is my way of making the cold weather a little more fun. I’ll be honest, not the most practical, especially on a day of class but it sure does make for some fun photos. Gotta keep things real with you all sometimes, lol.
Outfit Details— jacket: SheIn, bodysuit: SheIn, sweater: Chicwish, jeans: Express, boots: Jambu
