Talk about a short turn around time; Sophie and I headed out at 8 am this morning for a quick photo session and I loved these outfits so much, I decided they needed to be shared with you all as soon as possible. Ohio has been teasing us with some spring temperatures this week and I cannot say I’m mad about it.
One of my favorite retailers, Express just recently released tons of new spring clothes and I couldn’t love them more! Everything from dainty florals, pretty pastels, to your classic denim hit their site within the last few weeks and just about everything is on sale. So whether you’re shopping for spring break or are just in need of a little wardrobe refresh, they’ve got it all. We’re switching over from the winter looks and hopping right on into spring fashion for today’s blog post. I hope you enjoy!
I’ve been wearing black denim like crazy lately so when I stumbled across these high rise, paper bag jeans I knew I had to grab them. They’ve got a straight leg fit to them but are still fairly fitted around the waist giving them a true mom jean look. I love the belt that comes with these pants as it gives the jeans a little extra edge. Because these bottoms felt a bit edgier, I thought it would be a fun twist to pair a super feminine top with it.
Which is why I grabbed this creme bodysuit. Express does bodysuits best with thong-style bottoms and snaps to make for easy on and off. I love the wrap detailing across the chest and think the baby ruffles along the armpits are just the cutest touch to a simple bodysuit. You could easily dress this piece up or down which is another reason I was so drawn to it. To play off of the feminine feel, I decided black heels would be the perfect shoe to complete this look.
There is something so effortlessly classy about pairing heels with a looser pair of denim. I think these simple block heels really pulled this outfit together. To accessorize I threw on a few of my favorite gold pieces— a pair of hoop earrings and my new cuff from Mantra band.

Every time I see this jumpsuit I get instant utility vibes from it— there’s just something about it! I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere this season, not only from Express’s spring collection but tons of other retailers as well. And while the oversized, boxy fit to the jumpsuit gives off a more masculine feel, the pastel pink contrasts this perfectly making for the ultimate look.
I’ve been wanting to pick up these sneakers for months now. They are from Express but are Steve Madden and just about every girl here at school has these. I’ve got tons of white sneakers but most are running shoes or a true “dad” sneaker. I felt it was time to finally pick up a pair of true white platform sneakers that could work for any occasion, whether it be going to class or going out. If you’re in between sizes I would recommend going up!
I love the way the thick soles give this outfit a little lift. Because my jumpsuit runs a little large, I decided belting it would help give it more shape and prevent it from swallowing me whole. A simple white buckle belt from Rowe did just the trick.

Truth be told, I was not planning on wearing this skirt with this look but in the midst of changing in the back seat at 8:15 this morning, I quickly realized I left the pair of jeans I intended to wear with this bodysuit at home. Epic fail, I know. Luckily, I was with Sophie who was shooting Express looks too and she suggested I wear this pretty patch skirt of hers that she just received.
I was so relieved as not only did the skirt pair so well with the rest of the look, it actually turned out cuter than the look I had originally planned on shooting. I am praying they still have this pretty patch skirt in my size next month because I’d love to grab one for myself. The soft knit material and pale nude hue makes for the perfect spring skirt. I would recommend sizing down; an XXS would be my first choice.
This ruffled bodysuit I’ve been eyeing for ages now. They finally had it in my size and on clearance so I snagged it the first chance I got. I love the ruffle that cascades across the chest. So elegant and is such an easy piece to dress up. If you work in an office setting, the silky material would work perfectly for you. Again, a simple black heel pulls this outfit together. There’s a good chance I’ll be wearing this combination to a sorority event this weekend; this is such a good option if you need something nicer but not too dressy.

I cannot wait for spring to officially be here and hope the sunshine is planning on sticking around. I hope you enjoyed today’s Express looks. What retailer do you want me to focus on next week? Be sure to let me know below; I’d love to hear your feedback. See you Friday for my first prom post of 2020!
With love, McKenz
