Typically when I walk into Express and am left to chose items for my monthly partnership with them, I leave the dressing room with an abundance of items. I usually sit at the register going back and forth on what I should get forever. However, this month was different. I walked right out of the dressing room, knowing exactly what I wanted to purchase: five pairs of the same jeans.
You’re probably thinking to yourself, McKenz isn’t that a little excessive? And while the answer is sort of yes, it’s also sort of no. Over the years I’ve learned if you find a pair of jeans that fit you well and are going to last you a few years—you should grab more than one pair. So naturally, I needed the essentials: a pair in black, white, light wash, dark wash, and a fun pop of color. Call me crazy, but you’re going to be clicking “Add To Cart” as soon as you see these babies too.
When I went into Express I knew I wanted to pick up a new pair of jeans. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a pair of jeans that aren’t entirely skinny and this style caught my eye. I tried on a gazillion different pairs and ended up loving the Cropped Flare Skinny Jeans! Not only did they fit me like a glove but they were super comfortable. I think you can do a lot with this style—they are definitely one you can play around with.
I never in a million years would have thought I’d pick up a pair of purple jeans but here we are. These were actually the last of the five pairs I picked up; the workers were putting these on display when I was getting ready to leave. I knew I loved this style and something about the light lilac I was drawn to. I decided to grab them to complete my purchase; I told myself these would be such a fun, unexpected addition to my wardrobe this spring.
To pair with them I’m wearing a simple lace cami. I love tops like this for the spring and summer because they are easy to wear and go with just about everything. Lace detailing is so big this season! I love the way these jeans look with a simple mule. I’ve had this pair for four years now and they are still my go-to’s. Pop on some statement earrings and you’ve got the perfect look for spring.

Before I left for college dark wash jeans were my absolute love language. I’ll admit, I tend to reach for black denim more these days but seeing this pair of jeans instantly had me sold. Again, these are the same style as before. I’m wearing a 00 in this pair; these are from their “Stretch” line which means the material is super soft and comfortable, it’s not your typical stiff denim.
The raw, slightly frayed hems of these are so cute. I love the little cropped flare but they definitely do make your legs look a bit shorter. To elongate them, a pair of short block heels will do just the trick. I opted for a gold pair to coordinate with my belt.
Speaking of this belt, I am obsessed. I’ve been seeing ring belts all over my Instagram feed these days and think they are such a fun accessory. They totally change up your look! My top isn’t from Express however, it is the cutest lettuce hem tee from SheIn. I love the super pale pink for this time of year. I added a pair of gold hoops to complete my look. This outfit is the perfect representation of my go-to outfit when I was in high school!

You heard it earlier, black denim is my new jam! There is nothing easier to style than a pair of black jeans. I’m up to like five different pairs from Express and I am constantly reaching for them. So when I saw this style came in black, you know I snatched them right up. These are perfect for a multitude of occasions—while they are definitely more of an everyday style, they could totally transition into a night out look in college with some chunky platform sneakers!
You know my favorite way to style black jeans is with a black top! I love me some black on black and think the monochrome combination is super easy and slimming too. However, sometimes when wearing this combination you lose your shape. Avoid this by adding a cool belt. This silver star one is another one of those chain styles and is an edgy touch to this look.
I really do feel these jeans need a shoe with some height to them. Otherwise, I think my legs look just a bit stubby. I picked up these neon pink mules in February and have been dying for the weather to warm up so I can finally start wearing them. So happy I got to break them out for these photos. They are just the pop of color this outfit needed.

With the exception of just a few Hollister pairs, Express jeans are the only kind I will wear! They seriously are the best for my body shape—fitting and flattering my petite frame so nicely. I’m linking all of my favorite pairs above so you can browse them. Now through Wednesday their entire store is buy one get one $19.90 which means you need to pick up a couple of pairs of these jeans.
I couldn’t love this new style of jeans more! To see how I’m styling the light wash and white pairs make sure you’re following me on all my socials as I’m sure they’ll be featured sometime soon. In the meantime, it’s time for you to do some online shopping! I hope you all are making the most of your downtime.
With love, McKenz
