Well, friends, I’ve got some good news—spring has officially sprung here! While we still have a few chilly days here and there the forecast is looking sunny and sixty for the next week which is music to my ears. I’ve been taking full advantage of this downtime and playing around with my style. I’ve been trying to get dressed each morning, reaching for new pieces and styling items in ways I hadn’t thought of before.
Using fashion as a creative outlet during this crazy time is not only giving me something to do with my free time but it’s fueling my passion that I seem to have lost a bit during the chaos of the school year. And although it may seem silly to be talking about spring trends right now, it’s bringing me joy during these uncertain times. With that being said, today I am teaming up with Sugar Lips to share five ways to spice up your wardrobe this season.
The number one way to add a little ~flavor~ to your spring wardrobe is by adding some color to it. Throughout the fall and winter months, I’ll admit I stick to some pretty bland color choices, white black and gray dominating my wardrobe. However, come spring and summer I come full force with the colors. Always have, always will! There’s something about a bright color that brings me much happiness and I think we could all use a bit more of that right now.
This orange jumpsuit was one of the first items to catch my eye on Sugar Lips’ site. Smocked detailing is huge right now and I love this material along the chest. This jumpsuit has also got fluttered sleeves which are the perfect dainty detail. I love the feminine feel these add to the look. I paired this piece with some matching slip-on mules. I’ve had these shoes for years now and they are still one of my go-to pairs! I love how easy they are to slip on and think they are a must for the springtime. Plus, I love a little monochrome action for the spring. If that’s a little intimidating for you, opt for a pair of wedges and a whicker bag to keep things neutral.

Animal print has been big for a few seasons now but it’s making an even bigger and better comeback this spring! It’s dominating every retailer’s spring collection and for obvious reasons. I mean, come on, who doesn’t love a little sassy leopard print?! This top was calling my name! Bishop sleeves are all the rage right now and give this top so much dimension. With an open back slit, you’ve got an unexpected twist on a typical blouse.
I decided to pair this top with a pair of black cropped flare jeans. These are my new favorite style; I think they compliment my body shape so well and there are endless ways to style them. To dress this up a bit I threw on a pair of black heels and gold hoop earrings. This is the perfect spring transition look and would be adorable for a date night in (isn’t that what the cool kids are calling it?!).

Subtle details are an easy way to spice up your closet. For instance, I’m always reaching for black sports bras. They are such an essential in my wardrobe and are a piece that I keep for years! You can add a little flair to your workout clothes too—this sports bra is the perfect example. It’s got the cutest ruffle hem along the neckline and cross back straps. This is a simple touch that makes your classic black sports bra that much cuter.
Throw it on with a colored pair of leggings and black sneakers and you’ll surely be best dressed at the gym—or in your basement doing that #athomeworkout, am I right?!

Despite popular belief (or what my own closet has to say), there are more patterns out there than animal print. I know, I know, crazy for me to admit. But in all seriousness, I love florals for the spring. I think the feminine pattern is a classic that will truly never go out of style. Reach for something simple like this cute jumpsuit to switch up from your usual basics.
This small floral print is so cute. I love the self-tying straps and little cut out along this jumpsuit. Not to mention it’s got pockets which makes me love it that much more. I would definitely recommend sizing down though since this piece does run on the larger side. I’m pulling the yellow out of this print by accessorizing with some matching statement earrings and popping on a pair of chunky heels. Clear bags are also my jam this season—you can definitely count on me to be wearing one all year long! The handles on this one are the cutest.

Choosing pieces that have some movement to them is my last tip for today. By movement, I mean something that comes to life when you walk, twirl, dance… This pink maxi dress does just that and would be perfect for all the typical activities that spring brings along—award ceremonies, graduations, weddings, etc. I know a lot of these occasions have been postponed but this dress could truly serve so many different purposes when the time comes.
The tiered ruffles are what really bring this dress to life. They are so fun and look gorgeous when twirling around! This dress also has elements we discussed earlier with a bright pop of pink and a dainty floral pattern. Pair it with your favorite heels or a pair of mules like I have on here and you’ve got the ultimate spring look! I can’t wait to wear this once all this craziness is over.
