As you know, I’ve been sharing various prom styles every Friday. Well, this Friday is week number five already and it’s the final segment of my Prom 2020 series.
Of all the prom designers I’ve had the pleasure of working with, Terani Couture holds an extra special place in my heart. I first worked with the brand as part of my Prom 2019 series, sharing a stunning two-piece gown. The white gown was also the dress I wore to my senior prom and I love it to this day. Shortly after I published that post, I accepted a position as a freelance writer for their website.
Over the last year, I have written dozens of articles and filmed several videos for their platforms. I’ve also gotten to wear and review some of the most beautiful gowns you’ve ever seen. When in New York City for Fashion Week this past February I watched their spring collection live from the runway and made it to the showroom to try on a handful of gowns for some Instagram content.
Needless to say, my Terani Couture family has been amazing to me over the last year. I’ve saved the best for last and am teaming up with them today for the final prom post of my 2020 series. They actually sent this dress over for me to wear to my sorority, Alpha Phi’s, Red Dress Gala. I received dozens of compliments the evening I wore this dress and although it’s a pageant-style, I knew it deserved a post of its own.

Of all the gowns I shared this one is without a doubt the fanciest and most expensive of the bunch. That being said, this dress is technically a pageant dress. Pageant dresses tend to be more extravagant and because of that more costly. They are, however, some of the most stunning dresses you’ll ever try on. Trust me, I tried on a gazillion at the showroom and was convinced the only time I’d ever wear something that fabulous again would be on my wedding day, lol.
The dress I’m wearing is style 1922GL0682, an off the shoulder floral fitted gown. I fell in love with this dress the second I put it on. I mean how could I not; look at how gorgeous it is?! It’s got a sweetheart neckline with the most amazing 3D flowers along it. The floral detailing literally brings this dress to life. Not only are the flowers beautiful but they give this dress so much dimension. Depending on the size of your chest, you can also wear the straps on the shoulder rather than off if you’d like.
There’s widow pane beading across the mid-drift that gradually enlarges. The floral appliques and embellishments from top to bottom allow this dress to hug every curve! Not to mention, a mermaid fit gives you the best of both worlds—with a fitted torso and sweeping train.
The train, oh the train! Definitely my favorite part of this dress. The full-length mermaid skirt on this beauty is show-stopping. I’m on the shorter side which left a lot of material on the ground when wearing this. However, this allowed me to fan out the skirt completely, showcasing the cascading train. There is a slit along the front of this dress that makes walking in this beauty far easier. I wore tall nude heels to give me some lift and gold statement earrings to complete this look.
As for sizing, the style I have on is a size 4. I could’ve made the 2 work but they didn’t have a 2 in stock when I was at the showroom. Because pageant dresses have such careful detailing and are higher-end materials, they tend to run on the smaller size, as I typically am a 0/2 in a prom style, I am a 2/4 in pageant styles. As I said, I wore this gown for my Red Dress Gala and as the night went on, this dress definitely loosened up a bit. Dresses with this much beading tend to weigh a lot more than your average dress and oftentimes will stretch out a bit due to this. This dress comes in five different colors and is available in sizes 0-24.
Terani Couture is a designer, therefore their dresses cannot be bought directly off of their site. You can, however, click here to find a store locator to find locations around you that sell Terani Couture dresses. There are also various different online stores that currently have this style in stock. I will leave a few linked above so you can shop if you’d like. I want to give a huge thank you to Terani Couture, not only for sponsoring today’s post but for providing me with such incredible opportunities over the last year! It’s always a pleasure getting to collaborate with them.
I cannot believe that this is the end of my 2020 prom series! It has been such a pleasure getting to share so many gorgeous dresses with you. I hope you enjoyed it and that this series has given you the dress inspiration and ideas you were looking for. Perhaps, I’ll be bringing this series back for a third straight year next spring; we shall see! Until then.
With love, McKenz
