Agh, as comfy as sweats are, I’m starting to get kind of sick of them. The time of year when it finally starts getting warm enough for me to break out my sandals and cute dresses is my absolute favorite. Temperatures are supposed to be nearing seventy today and if we weren’t stuck in quarantine, or perhaps we were allowed to go on a tropical vacation, I’d surely be wearing one of these cute smocked dresses.
Last week on my YouTube channel, I collaborated with SheIn to share some adorable new clothing items, shoes, and accessories, all perfect for the spring and summertime. Among the haul were tons of smocked items. I love the smocked trend and think it’s a fun twist on a simple bodycon dress. Today I’m sharing three of the dresses that arrived and how I’m styling them this season.
This dress was probably my favorite among the bunch! The most common trend I’ve seen smocked dresses accompanied by are statement sleeves. Specifically, puff sleeves. I personally love this combination as the large sleeves perfectly contrast the fitted bodice of a smocked dress. The dainty ruffle along the bottom is another touch that compliments this style. Another reason I was drawn to this dress was because of the color; the pale blue reminds me of a sunny day by the ocean.
Because of that, I decided to go with a few beachier accessories to finish off my look. I’m always wearing a floppy hat in the summer. Not only do I love the way they look but they help keep the sun off of my face. This one has the most adorable shell beads along it. As for my purse of choice, I went with this cute whicker one with a few pop poms. This would serve as the perfect beach bag as it’s just large enough for your towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses! My slip-on sandals are another recent find, the pom-poms + tassels help pull this look together.

Smocked dresses also come in midi and maxi styles so I had to give them a go too. I will admit, I don’t love them as much as the shorter styles but I do think they are perfect for those cooler spring days or even later as we transition into the fall time. This dress would make an awesome wedding guest outfit!
This one definitely makes me look a bit curvier. There are tiered ruffles throughout that add a bit of dimension to the look. I felt that flat sandals paired with this dress made me feel a bit stumpy so I swapped them out for a pair of lace-up heels. These also came in my last SheIn order and are my new favorite shoes! I have already styled them a ton and know that they will be on repeat all summer long.

The last style I’ve been loving is a strapless version! I don’t reach for strapless items too often but when I do I make sure I have a mighty fine tan to accompany it (clearly I need to get working on that soon!). This dress would’ve made the perfect Easter look. Perhaps, I’ll wear it for online mass this Sunday! It’s got a dainty floral print and a few ruffles along the edge to spice up the simple silhouette.
For shoes, I threw on these pink suede espadrille wedges. I also picked these up from SheIn and they were surprisingly comfortable and an awesome height to walk in. I thought that same purse from before and a pair of tassel earrings were just what this look needed.

As I mentioned earlier, a majority of the pieces I styled in this blog post were from this haul! In addition to the smocked dresses, purses, and shoes you saw me style above, there are several tops, accessories, and other dressier pieces worth checking out. I know dresses during quarantine may seem kind of fancy but don’t forget, if you’re wearing a dress you aren’t wearing pants so basically it’s the same thing as your three-day old oversized pajama shirt; am I right?! Lol, let me know which smocked dress was your favorite in the comments below. Here’s to hoping we can find somewhere besides the dinner table to wear our cute new dresses to sometime soon. Until then…
With love, McKenz
