I had a huge SheIn order arrive the other day for a Summer Fun haul that will be going live on my YouTube channel in a couple of weeks. The dresses I’ll be sharing today are a part of that haul but I wanted to go ahead and share them with you today so you could get a sneak peek and grab some of the items while they are still fully stocked.
It’s starting to feel like we skipped right over spring and went straight to summer. I can’t say I’m bummed nor surprised. I am a sucker for a good dress in the summertime; regardless of the occasion, you will almost always find me in one. Today I’m breaking down the top five summer dress trends worth following this season.
I’ve been a lover of tiered ruffle dresses for as long as I can remember. There is something so classy and elegant about this style and luckily, it’s trending big time this season. The dress I picked up is a gorgeous light pink that is bound to make your tan pop. I love this dress because it’s actually rather shapeless. It’s just a simple tube of fabric with an elastic band along the top. The ruffles, however, bring this dress to life. I love the movement they create and think they are adorable.
You could easily dress this piece down with a pair of strappy sandals and straw tote but I wanted to dress it up a bit. These lace-up heels have been my jam for weeks now and I just know I will be wearing them all summer long. They are so good. Paired with white and gold hoops, this look is instantly pulled together. I kept my accessories pretty consistent throughout these looks: my gold M necklace and a cuff. I think this is the perfect duo for summer dresses as it’s simple and works with just about any style dress.

The nineties fashion revival is huge right now so obviously with that comes all kinds of tie-dye. I have to say, it’s really starting to grow on me, especially during this quarantine. I loved the colors of this dress so much that I just could not resist. Shapeless dresses like this one are some of the best because they are so easy and comfortable. That’s one of the reasons I love dresses so much; they take no effort, just put one on, grab a pair of shoes, and pop on a few accessories.
I wanted to keep this cotton dress casual so I paired it with my Steve Madden platform sneakers. These are so comfortable and work great with just about anything—joggers, jean shorts, dresses, you name it! They are available in a few different colors and are so worth picking up, especially if you’re a college student who’s looking for a versatile shoe that’s comfortable yet stylish.

I’ve talked about smocked dresses quite a bit around here; it’s certainly no secret that they are going to be big this season. For obvious reasons, they were big in the nineties and they just scream summer fun. I love the smocked trend because the pieces tend to be a bit more laid back. I picked up this one because I was drawn to the primary colors which Madison happens to hate; she told me I looked like a box of crayons after changing into this outfit, lol.
I happen to love the color scheme and think the stripes are a subtle way to incorporate color into your wardrobe. For shoes and earrings, I wanted to pull out the yellow in the dress. These dainty heels are some of my favorites right now. Not only do they elongate your legs big time but they are so comfortable to walk in.

Unless you live under a rock, you obviously are aware that floral is trending this spring and summer. I’m pretty sure, it’s a given at this point, lol! Smaller florals have been seen everywhere this season and seeing the gorgeous print on a smaller scale makes me a little more apt to reach for it. This light lilac color swept the runways at fashion week and is making it’s mark across summer collections everywhere.
I’m dabbling into the two trends together with this look and have to admit, I’m sort of loving it. This dress has a simple v-neck cut to it but a couple of fun ruffles along the bottom. As cute as these shoes are, if you’re planning on walking for more than an hour, I would definitely not recommend them. The clear strap is adorable but the self-tying strap along the ankle makes these a bit difficult to walk in. To accessorize, I reached for these floral earrings that couldn’t have matched any better. They really helped bring the dainty floral print of the dress out on a larger scale. I think they completed this outfit so perfectly.

Oh, how I will be sporting a good maxi dress until the end of time. Regardless of the season or style, there’s something about a maxi that makes me feel so comfortable and confident in my own skin. What a wonderful thing a piece of clothing can do for you! Colorblocking is another big trend this season so when I saw this multicolored maxi on their site, I instantly knew I needed it.
The color palette of this dress is amazing and the soft pastels work wonderfully alongside one another. I chose to pull out the pink by adding a pair of matching floral earrings. This dress also incorporates a few of the trends we previously discussed, the smocked detailing and tiered ruffles completing this dress. Oh, and did I mention the quality of this one? Spot on; this would be perfect for just about any event you may have planned for later this summer.
