Well, I know one thing is for certain and that’s that football season this fall is going to be looking a whole lot different than usual. Despite Covid-19 postponing and canceling so many conferences fall sports, Kent State and the Mid American Conference have said that sports are “on” as of right now.
I’m not entirely sure how long that decision will stick but I figured I’d take advantage of the season still happening and give you all the game day outfit inspiration you’ve been asking for. Keep in mind that the standard “dress code” for sporting events is different from school to school. I tried my best to incorporate a variety of outfit ideas for more than just football games; my heart will be full again when I get back on a baseball field!
I am so glad my school’s colors are some of my favorites because it makes choosing outfits rather easy. One of my highschool’s colors was gold as well so I have a lot of this color in my closet. This top is so cute with ruffled sleeves and a tie-front accent.
Pair it with white denim shorts and some platform espadrilles. There are tons of girls who will be wearing shoes like these—not only are they trendy but they are super comfortable for wearing around all day. Plus, I always appreciate a little extra height. Popping on some tassel earrings with a little bit of navy in them to tie this look together.

This outfit is a little casual for my personal preference when it comes to football games but for something a bit more toned down, like baseball, this is perfect. I’m sure everyone’s got a college tee lying around. Tuck your favorite one into a pair of high waisted denim.
I’m adding platform sneakers and just a few gold accessories. Never underestimate the power of a cute belt and hoops; this is my go-to combo if I want a “relaxed” outfit!

This outfit is definitely very dressy for Kent but this is pretty typical for big football schools down south. I know lots of girls like reaching for statement pieces and wear their sorority pins too. I love this denim dress and the giant ruffles on it are so fun. I’m popping on yellow wedges and some matching earrings for a pop of color.

I know some football games happen in the evening and in that case you may find yourself wanting something long-sleeved. I have this wrap top in a handful of colors and it’s definitely one of my favorites. It’s got such a flattering fit and works for any occasion.
Pop it on with some white denim shorts and lace-up sandals to elongate the legs. Rather than reaching for yellow accents, I went with gold metallic lightning bolt earrings. Since we’re the Kent State flashes I figured these would be perfect!

Two-piece sets are a no brainer outfit combination; if you’re in need of a look last-minute, grab something like this! This set has the most amazing flared sleeves and the cutest tassels all around the pieces. I went for a full-on white outfit and threw on some Palm Beach Sandals to go with. To keep the tassel trend consistent throughout, I added a fun pair of colorblocked earrings.

If you’re an ex-cheerleader like me, chances are you’re having some fomo being in the stands rather than the sidelines for the first time. No worries, a pleated mini skirt like this Princess Polly one will wipe those blues away in no time!
I’m pairing mine with a navy bustier-style bodysuit and some platforms to give my look a little bit of height. I also have a pair of white lightning bolt earrings on; I thought they would be the perfect finishing touch for this outfit idea!

This yellow top came in the mail just a few weeks ago and I instantly knew it would be the perfect top for a college game day. It ties in the front giving you just enough cleavage and the halter back is so on-trend. I’m wearing this top with a pair of high-rise cropped flare jeans. These are some of my favs and they look awesome with little block heels. Add hoops to accessorize.

Every girl needs a little gingham in their wardrobe; this is easily one of my favorite patterns and it works so well on game days. I’m keeping things pretty simple in an envelope style skirt and a white cropped cami. To keep my feet comfy I’m wearing platform sneakers. I’ve got those same white earrings on as earlier!

For some schools, a tee and shorts is the go-to. Luckily, that’s the easiest outfit combo in the book and almost anyone can recreate it! I have tons of cropped Kent tees and love the way they look with denim cut-offs.
I’m popping on espadrilles to match my tee and went for a few star accessories to spice things up a bit. This is the perfect outfit combo for me to wear to the baseball field; just pop on a cardigan when it cools down!

Last but not least, can’t forget about a good ole romper! Similar to two pice sets, rompers are nice because they are an outfit all in one. If you’re someone who struggles to come up with outfits or wants to be comfortable all day long, reach for a romper.
Because rompers have shorts they are easy to move around in! This top has got a plunging wrap detail and an open back that is so adorable. Add tassel earrings and a pair of white shoes to coordinate. A cute little face tattoo would be the perfect finishing touch.

What is the game day norm at your school? I’d love to hear as I know it varies drastically from school to school. Fingers crossed this school year has some sort of normalcy to it and that I’ll have a chance to watch at least one football game… go flashes!
With love, McKenz
