It didn’t shock me when you guys said you needed help styling outfits for this awkward time of year. Summer to fall transition looks can be a bit tricky but they are some of my favorites to style. I’ve got a handful of outfits + tips to help ease your closet into fall.
Of course, I’m a little more dressed up than the average person but hey, that’s the beauty of learning online! I’ve been loving the freedom to wear whatever I want—whether that be sweats and slippers or a dress and heels that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to wear if I had a three-mile walk to class (clearly trying to find the silver lining!).
Bustier style tops are so big right now, so of course, I had to pair this black bodysuit with my look. In all honestly, this look could work for going out but I wanted to make it a bit more business casual so I threw on a floral printed blazer. The style of this blazer screams fall but the bright hues make it still feel like summer. I then added a ring belt and floral statement earrings. These few accessories really dress the outfit up and give it more of a professional feel.
Don’t get me wrong, I still wear dresses and skirts this time of year but I associate jean shorts with summer, so swapping them out for a pair of jeans is an absolute must for me. Reach for a pair of flares that are cropped so you can show off a black lace-up heel. These will elongate the legs and are a fun twist to your typical block heel. Plus, you guys know there’s nothing I love more than a jeans + heels combo to make me feel oh so fabulous.

While the thought of pumpkin spice and chunky sweaters sounds amazing right now, I’m totally aware that many states are still experiencing scorching hot temperatures each day. No worries, you can still wear dresses but incorporate these few trends into your look to make it *feel* like you’re easing into fall fashion.
We’ve loved denim for years but this fall the trend is taking on a new form and being used to create all kinds of fun garments. Rather than sporting your denim in pants form, wear it as a dress! This dress I have on is actually denim and the hot pink hue makes it even more unique. Puff sleeves are also big this year and if it’s too hot to rock them in sweater form, don’t be afraid to reach for a fun top or dress. I’m adding clear strap heels and white pom pom earrings to add a little sass to this outfit.

I have to admit, I’m a sucker for fall in Kent. The temperatures cool down a bit quicker here than in Maryland and with the humidity next to nothing, wearing a cute sweater and jeans is totally doable this time of year. I have been on the hunt for a button front sweater for over a year now and finally came across the perfect one. This style sweater became super popular last year and is here to stay for fall 2020!
I love how versatile this piece is: wear it buttoned up as a pullover or unbuttoned over a cami as a cardigan. I’m adding my favorite cropped flare jeans to this look and finishing it off with a pair of slip-on mules. These are my absolute favorite transition shoe as they aren’t quite a heel but they aren’t fully a bootie making them an awesome “in-between” shoe for the fall. These come in a few different colors; I am dying to get my hands on the mustard!
