3 Trends I’m Following This Fall

I’ve spent so much time over these last few weeks working on holiday gift guides that it’s starting to feel like we skipped right over fall and went straight into Christmas mode… I’m taking a step back today to share three trends I’m following this fall. Of course, I’m styling a few new pieces. Today’s batch is from Fashion Nova, one of my favorite retailers to find trendy pieces at an affordable price point. They’ve got tons of adorable items right now that you’re sure to love. In the meantime, here’s how I’m styling my current favorites!

Shackets 

Shackets are hands down the number one most popular trend to follow this season! If you don’t know what a shacket is, allow me to explain: a flannel that’s thicker than a shirt, but not as heavy as a jacket. They are the perfect in-between weight and are so easy to layer with. I paired mine with a tan turtleneck. I have this sweater in a few different colors and it’s one of my favorite Fashion Nova pieces.

It’s a warm, ribbed material that’s fitted so it wears well underneath chunky cardigans, thick coats, and *of course* shackets. I especially love this flannel because you can totally wear it with leggings and a sweatshirt too—dress them up or down, whichever you prefer!

I went for something a bit more sophisticated, slipping into black skinny jeans and a pair of mules. These shoes are my go-to fall transition shoe. They are the perfect neutral that pairs with everything. This outfit would totally work in a “business casual” setting as it’s classy yet still laid back.

Tweed Skirts 

Tweed skirts seem to make their appearance every fall and I’m welcoming them back with open arms. There’s nothing I love more than a little modern-day Blair Waldorf moment, and this outfit is just that! Again, I’m starting off in a fitted, ribbed turtleneck. This one is the cutest mauve color. It’s got bishop sleeves that add just a bit of spice to a rather simple piece.

My tweed skirt matches this outfit to a tee and gives off a sophisticated feel. To play off of the white in the skirt, I slipped into white booties. I shared these on the blog last week, saying they were a staple in my wardrobe during the fall months. I wasn’t lying! They are so easy to dress up or down and are a very comfortable walking height.

No outfit is complete without a few accessories! Of course, I had to reach for my favorite pearl combo. I’m not usually a headband girl but something about this one with the matching hoop earrings gets me every time. It’s classy yet trendy all at once! I added my favorite nude crossbody to finish off the outfit.

Straight Leg Jeans 

Straight leg jeans have been dominating my Tik Tok and Pinterest boards lately so I decided it was time to finally give them a try. And if I’m being honest, I’m still not 100% sold on them. I’m used to super skinny jeans so reaching for something baggy and oversized is way out of my comfort zone. These ones run a bit long so I cuffed them at the ankles to show off my new white kicks.

These jeans scream streetwear so I paired them with a fun new sweater from Fashion Nova. This has a two-way zipper so you can unzip it from both the top and the bottom! Isn’t that cool?! I’ve been seeing these everywhere recently and love them; it’s an edgy twist on a classic piece.

I popped on an oversized white leather jacket to finish off this outfit. I love layering cool outerwear with my outfits and this jacket did not disappoint. It’s super oversized so I highly recommend sizing down if you decide to purchase this piece. I’m dying to style this over a ribbed mini dress with combat boots. Agh, I’m dreaming of the photoshoot already! While this outfit is definitely out of my comfort zone, I’m so glad I gave it a try. Perhaps, I’ll have to break out the straight leg jeans more often.
