With Covid postponing dozens of wedding to late fall/early winter, my DMs have been flooded recently with requests for wedding guest dresses. I did one of these back in July but decided it was time to do an updated version with pieces for the holiday season. No wedding? No problem—these dresses would work perfectly for a holiday/cocktail party too!
Although I’ve been to a handful of weddings, it’s been a few years so I may be a little rusty in this area. I tried my best to share trendy dresses that were still affordable. Chances are the bride and groom have sent out an invitation that includes some sort of “dress code” guideline. I find that most holiday weddings tend to be a bit fancier, even black tie so my dresses reflect that today. Remember, it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. Try to do some investigating beforehand so you don’t stick out too much and don’t forget no white.
I know fall weddings are winding down but this dress was too gorgeous not to share with you! I just got it from Romwe and sadly it’s already out of stock. I was able to find a few similar though so I linked a few below for you to check out. This burnt orange hue is incredibly flattering on so many different skin tones and makes such a statement this time of year.
This cowl neck style is so trendy right now—it’s sexy yet classic at the same time. I’m not usually a big fan of midi dresses but the high leg slit on this one elongates the legs big time. I threw on nude heels and a matching crossbody. I always recommend a small bag that fits the essentials.
I’m wearing the same triple threat jewelry combination throughout this entire post— a gold cuff, a simple M necklace from The Silver Heron, and a pair of statement earrings to draw attention to the face. This pair is old from Walmart and one of my favorites to reach for no matter the occasion.

As I said, a lot of weddings around the holiday season are black tie. I mean who could resist the chance to get all dressed up for a night out? I know I sure can’t! When I saw this maroon dress I knew I needed to grab it for the sake of this blog post. It’s absolutely stunning and would work well for a dressy holiday party or even family photos as well!
This dress is from Windsor—one of my favorite places to find fancy dresses at an affordable price point. I love Lulus for pieces like this too; they both have tons of options for wedding guest attire. This dress has the most gorgeous train and a high leg slit that exposes the legs. This is the perfect opportunity to reach for a fun shoe. I went with nude lace-up heels from Fashion Nova.
Speaking of favorite details—this dress also has pockets so you don’t have to worry about bringing a purse for your phone and lipgloss. Plus, the padded bodice allows you to forgo a bra—woohoo! I cannot say enough good things about this gown and there are tons of color options to choose from.

Every girl needs a good ole little black dress in their life. Whether you’re headed to a cocktail party or a wedding this dress is an absolute must. I’m not usually a fan of midi dresses on me as I feel they swallow my petite frame but this one right here is nothing short of perfect.
This dress has a square neckline with a few crossing straps along the back. The key to rocking a midi when you’re petite is finding one that has a high leg slit like this one right here. I love how high this one comes up because it gives off the illusion of a mini dress while still staying modest. Plus, midis will keep you warmer this time of year—I always recommend faux fur if you’re wanting something to layer over top.
To finish off this look, I kept things monochromatic with black heels, a classic black crossbody, and my favorite gold hoops. This look could truly work for any occasion and with a dress that hugs your curves as well as this one, you’ll feel fabulous regardless!

I swore I’d never wear chocolate brown another day in my life but then it came back in style and so here I am… wearing chocolate brown, lol! This ruched dress is absolutely fabulous. It’s another SheIn find and one of my favorites from this fall.
It’s very rare I reach for bodycon dresses but something about this one I just couldn’t resist. The ruched detailing throughout is incredibly flattering and while this dress is fitted throughout, the extra fabric helps hide your mid-drift area. I believe this is supposed to fit more like a midi-dress but because I’m so short it hit just above my ankles.
I slipped into nude heels for some extra height and popped on some earrings to match. Regardless of your shape or size this dress looks amazing on everyone and is definitely one of my favorites. It comes in a bunch of different colors too so if you’re not 100% sold on the brown, don’t worry, there’s an option for you!

Holy cow I could not love this dress more. There is truly nothing more elegant than something silky around the holidays. Everything about this dress is perfect from it’s subtle v-neck to the gathered material along the mid-drift area.
I have very few curves and yet the cut of the skirt gives you an hourglass figure that’s incredibly flattering. Windsor dresses definitely run a bit big. I am wearing an XS and even with a three-inch heel I still had some material lying on the ground.
To finish off the look I’m popping on all of my favorite gold jewels and reaching for that same nude crossbody purse from the first look. A faux fur shawl would look absolutely incredible with this for a black-tie wedding in December. Agh, if only someone I knew was getting married!
