Liv Potunas is the kind of sorority sister every girl dreams of having. Not only is she spunky as heck but she’s supportive, compassionate, and is always the first to offer a helping hand. She’s also always down for a photoshoot—needless to say, Liv has been my saving grace this semester. Without our Monday/Wednesday photo sessions I truly don’t know how I’d manage it all.
And despite us being different in quite literally every way possible, this girl has quickly become one of my closest friends in Alpha Phi. Liv is also a Fashion Merchandising major and has the coolest style you’ve ever seen… as you can tell from the photos above. However, it couldn’t be more different than mine; which is why we wanted to end the semester off with a bang, having her style my outfits for a week. A majority of these pieces are straight out of my closet, just styled with a ~Liv Potunas twist~ and the rest are pieces I borrowed from her.
We had so much fun putting these outfits together and shooting them around Kent before heading home for break. I know this post is different from my usual but I hope you enjoy it!
There’s nothing Liv loves more than a monochrome moment. It didn’t surprise me one bit when she put me in this ensemble. It was sunny and seventy the day we took these photos so we took full advantage and broke out this adorable bodycon dress from Windsor. I have this in a couple of colors now and I reach for it constantly.
I just recently got these combat boots from Romwe and have been struggling with how to style them. Liv assured me that throwing them on with this dress and a few white accessories would do just the trick. And while this outfit is definitely one I’d never have chosen myself, I had so much fun embracing my edgier side for the day. Of course, a big ole leather jacket and some tights would make this outfit a bit more suitable for chillier fall temps.

Sweater vests are back and I swore I’d never be caught dead wearing one, yet here we are… Truthfully, I picked this up from SheIn after seeing Liv rock so many sweater vests during our previous photoshoots. The neutral color palette balances out the bold zebra print so well. I personally would have layered a white button-up underneath but Liv assured me that this would look just fine on its own when paired with leather shorts.
Plus, as I said, it was a warm week so I could get away with this outfit even in the middle of November. For shoes, I slipped into black sock booties— a never fail piece in my closet. To complete the outfit I accessorized with rectangular sunnies (we both have the same pair from SheIn!) and some gold jewels. Liv is more of a silver girl herself but she let me stick to my usual metals for the sake of today’s post.

I love me some leather but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having a hard time styling these babies. I’m used to wearing Spanx leather leggings so these joggers were a bit out of my comfort zone, especially with them having a looser fit. My rule of thumb is to always style looser bottoms with a fitted top but Liv insisted on making me “slightly uncomfortable” with each outfit choice.
So, she picked the baggiest graphic tee she could find amongst my drawers and stuck me in that. To keep me from swimming in the shirt she had me give it a little front tuck. I also threw on a long sleeve underneath for an extra layer. I popped on white chunky sneakers and the same gold jewelry to complete this outfit. I have to admit, I really hated this outfit when I first put it on but it ended up being one of my favorites.

These green boots are an absolute show stopper and one of the few pieces that Liv and I would both wear. I knew they needed a parking garage moment the second I unboxed them. If I’m being honest, I’m no Queen fan but I sure do love an oversized tee shirt dress moment. Liv pulled this top from her own closet and had me throw it on with these boots. I’m obsessed with this combo.
A leather jacket thrown over the shoulders was an absolute must for this look, as were a black crossbody purse, silver chain necklaces, and a big ole pair of hoops. I know I said I don’t usually switch up my metals but for the sake of this look I had to cave. I gotta admit, I loved the way this outfit come together!

For the last outfit, Liv tried to put me in something a little more “my style”. I had just gotten these two-toned dress pants in the mail and was dying to wear them. They are so unique and would make such a statement in an office setting. I wore just a simple black long sleeve with them. The back of this is open, giving it a business in the front, party in the back kind of moment.
These pants definitely run big so a pair of heeled boots was necessary—she had me throw on my favorite white pair from Chinese Laundry. As per usual, I’m wearing the same gold accessories from before. Truthfully, this is the exact way I would’ve styled these pants if I were choosing the outfit myself so kudos to you Liv ;).

As I said, these outfits were totally out of my comfort zone and while they weren’t looks I’d have chosen for myself, it was so fun getting to experiment with different styles and try something new. Shoutout Liv for being the best photographer, stylist, and sorority sister I could’ve ever asked for… I would be so lost without you! Let us know if you want to see a part 2 of this post when we’re back in action in 2021.
With love, McKenz
