It feels like fall just started and yet suddenly my Instagram feed and Pinterest boards are full of all things winter: cozy knits, snow boots, and plaid galore. While I’m definitely excited to hop into the holiday spirit, today I wanted to touch on a few fall to winter transition trends that will help ease your closet from one season to the next.
I’ve been sharing tweed skirts all fall long so this outfit idea should certainly be no surprise to you! However, I’m switching things up just a tad this season and popping on a pair of sheer tights underneath. Not only do these provide a little extra warmth but they leave your outfit looking so polished and professional.
Up top, I have on just a simple nude long sleeve bodysuit. I love basics like these, especially for layering. If I had my black wool coat when shooting these pictures I totally would have popped it on too! Black chunky booties gave me just enough height and I kept the accessories simple with just everyday gold jewelry and a pair of hoops.

Collars are making their comeback right now and we’ve got Tik Tok to blame for it. I can’t say I’m disappointed, I love the trendy touch on a classic sweater. While I do love my chunky sweaters, lately I’ve been gravitating towards fitted ones. These keep you just as warm but don’t add any bulk to your outfit which is essential when reaching for a pair of jeans like these.
Fashion Nova has the best-flared jeans ever. I’ve got a dozen pairs now and just added these light wash ones to my collection. The high rise fit meets the sweater in just the right spot and nude heeled sock booties keep the bottoms from dragging along the floor (a must if you’re short like me). Since I was home while shooting these photos, I had to let the cow print purse make her appearance!

I’ve worn more matching sweat sets in 2020 than ever in my life. I can’t be the only one who’s taking advantage of being home all the time, stocking up on loungewear left and right. This set caught my eye with its unique seams throughout the legs and slight acid wash finish. The joggers are the perfect fit—not too tight but not too baggy.
To keep me warm when heading out, I’m popping on a big ole puffer coat. I’ve got dozens of puffers by now and this nude one is a new favorite of mine. It has a leather-like finish that adds just enough texture to this outfit. White chunky sneakers and a fun pair of sunnies are just what this outfit needed to finish it off.

I sure do love an all black moment! There is truly no outfit combination I wear more. As we transition into cooler temperatures I find myself reaching for neutrals more than ever. This black bodysuit is a dream. It’s the softest material with the most flattering neckline. I tucked it into black straight leg jeans to keep things simple.
Playing with proportions is the key to elongating the legs and slimming your figure. For instance, a cropped coat like this leopard sherpa with a pair of black high rise jeans is the perfect combination. Plus, who doesn’t love a good statement coat? I love styling these before transitioning into parka weather.

I know I’ve already shared a pair of flared jeans in this post but they’ve been dominating my wardrobe so fiercely that I just had to include another pair. If you’re in a sorority or looking for a fun way to spice up your basics, a pair of jeans like these striped bell-bottoms will do just the trick. Plus, these vertical stripes will make your legs look miles long.
I paired mine with a solid white bodysuit and a pair of pointed white booties. However, an oversized sweater would pair nicely with these as well if you’re in a cooler climate right now. Pop on a bright puffer coat or even something leather for an added layer and you’re good to go for a college gameday.

I always love getting new items from Fashion Nova! They have so many unique styles at such an affordable price point which makes styling their items even more fun. I’ll definitely be wearing these styles more over the next few weeks; make sure you’re tuning in to my Weekly Wrap Up’s to see these items in real-time college outfits! Until then…
