Back in the day, I used to scroll through Pinterest for hours each day, saving everything under the sun. And if you’ve been around for some time, you may remember my “Pinterest Outfit Recreations” series. Each month I would select a few of my favorite outfits and attempt to recreate them with items already in my closet.
Nowadays I find myself reaching for the app when struggling to style one specific item. For instance, I love sweater vests but was having a hard time styling them—Pinterest search bar for the win! Today I’m throwing things back and recreating a few Pinterest outfits featuring some of Winter 2021’s most popular trends.
As I just mentioned, as cute as sweater vests are they have been such a struggle for me to style! When I saw this outfit on my feed I instantly saved it, knowing fully well that I had just about every item to recreate it.
I’m starting off in an oversized blue collared shirt with a white chunky sweater vest over top. I love this layered look as it’s professional yet still casual at the same time. I highly recommend looking for sweater vests that don’t have a band along the bottom. This makes layering so much easier and makes this trend a little more modern. Although it’s a little chilly for a tweed skirt, I pulled mine out for the sake of this recreation; although jeans would work just fine too!
Rather than reaching for a crossbody, I went for a cute baguette bag. I liked the way this looked a little better. Of course, no Pinterest outfit is complete without a pair of black rectangular sunnies! Because this photo didn’t show the girls’ shoes, I had a little bit of freedom in that area. I went with a pair of black chunky boots to match my accessories.

Collared shirts are another item I’ve been styling a ton recently. They give off major business-casual vibes while still looking chic. The girl in the photo started off in an oversized collared shirt but I just so happened to pick up a collared dress a few weeks ago that worked perfectly with this look. I then layered a chunky black sweater over top. Although she wore this outfit with a clutch, I decided a chain-link crossbody was a little more fitting and helped give my outfit some shape.
I don’t know what it is about them but nothing makes me feel more powerful than a pair of sheer tights in the winter. They make every outfit look so classy and give you a little extra warmth—what else could a girl want?! I have a pair of over the knee boots but found that with this dress they made me look a little short and stubby so I opted for a pair of sleek sock booties instead.

Oh, how I love a good blazer moment… specifically blazer dresses. I’m not sure who this girl is but she’s all over my Pinterest feed these days. I’m not complaining, she has the cutest style and often pairs items in ways I’d never think to otherwise. For instance, I’ve had this black blazer dress in my closet for over a year now and am just getting around to styling it.
I could never make it look right but with a cable knit turtleneck layered underneath it looks so effortlessly cool. She has on a belt bag to accentuate the waist but I don’t have one so instead, I reached for a gold chain link belt. With a pair of gold hoops and a few other jewelry pieces, this was the ultimate combo.
I’m all about the brown and black mixing this season and while I do have a pair that looked just like the photo, I decided these two-toned booties needed their time to shine. These are such a unique take on the color-blocking trend and are incredibly versatile since they match just about everything. Plus, a heeled moment was necessary to make this outfit look extra boujee.
