It’s getting quite chilly here in Ohio and with snow on the way I’ve decided today is the perfect time to share some of my latest outerwear finds. I teamed up with Lulus earlier this month to share a few different jackets over on my Tik Tok. Of course, it would only be right for me to share the outfits here on the blog too. I’m linking everything you see me wearing at the end so stay tuned—all Lulus outerwear is currently on sale so snag these pieces while they are still in stock!
Thanks to the infamous I.AM.GIA coat, teddy coats have been trending for years now. However, we’re seeing this style take on several new forms this winter, including this long oversized version I have on here. As much as I love a shorter coat, they are super impractical for the weather here in Ohio. Walking to and from class calls for a knee-length coat to keep your tush warm and the wind out.
This one is super oversized and has tons of fluff around the collar to keep your neck warm. Typically I prefer a jacket that zips in the front but this one buttons for a super chic finish.
As for the rest of the fit, I’m keeping things super simple. This bodysuit is the cutest. It’s a total “business in the front, party in the back” moment with a mock neck and open back. I tucked it into a new pair of straight-leg jeans that are also from Lulus. I find ripped jeans to be a little overwhelming so I often avoid them; however, these had just a few rips along the knees and were the perfect wash so I added them to my cart.
They are a bit pricier but are very comparable to Levi’s. For shoes, I’m slipping into a pair of booties to match my jacket. These are from Dolce Vita and have a pointed toe which is my favorite. This ecru color is going to be so big this winter/spring—it’s the perfect “in-between” color of white and tan.

I know sweaters aren’t necessarily considered outerwear but this look was too cute not to throw into the mix. These cardigan sweaters have been so popular the last few months so I had to pick up this chunky nude one. It’s got just one button along the top so you can choose to wear it closed or open, layered overtop a basic long sleeve.
These black skinny jeans were a recent Express purchase and have been some of my most worn bottoms lately. They aren’t a true black so they are a really easy way to “break up” a monochrome outfit. Plus, they’ve got raw hems which are my favorite.
These shoes deserve a little love though! I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of sherpa-lined boots for over a year now and finally stumbled across this pair from Steve Madden. They are a leather combat boot with a fuzzy interior that keeps your foot extra toasty. These serve as the perfect “in-between” snow boot—they aren’t what I’d reach for in the middle of a blizzard but they are great for those slushy days post-snow storm.

Next up on my list of outerwear essentials is a wool coat. While teddys are cute (and just as warm!) they give off a much more casual vibe. There are so many reasons to love this coat. For starters, it comes all the way to my ankles providing all kinds of warmth. Plus, a statement print like zebra is such an easy way to spice up a bland outfit. Although this is a fun pattern, the brown and black color combo keeps the piece from being too overwhelming.
The rest of my outfit is super simple. Up top, I’ve got on a black v-neck sweater from Lulus. This comes in a few colors and has a super standard fit. It’s a great layering piece and has just the right fit. My jeans are the same ripped pair from before. As for shoes, I’ve slipped into a pair of heeled sock booties from Pretty Little Thing. These instantly dress the look up and give me a little extra height which I always appreciate.

If I’m being honest, I’ve never been a huge leather jacket girl. Most college-aged girls would deem this piece a “staple” in their closet but I never find myself gravitating towards them. That is until I found this faux-fur lined one from Lulus; now I’m hooked! Although I wouldn’t wear this piece for my walk to class, the fur lining adds a little something extra for your night out. It looks adorable over a lacey bodysuit and jeans for a trip to the bars but also with something simple like I have on here for your everyday outing.
Similar to the last few looks, I’m playing with the same basics. This is the same bodysuit I was wearing in the first outfit tucked into a pair of straight-leg jeans from Express. These ones are looser in the legs but have a fitted waist which is perfect if you’re on the petite side like me. Black booties are all you need to complete this outfit, although sneakers or mules would work well too.

Although my big Eddie Bauer parka still gets lots of use, not having to trudge three miles across campus every day has allowed me to switch up my outerwear and reach for something a bit trendier. I’ve been loving experimenting with these new styles and have a feeling I will be picking up plenty more over the next few months. Sadly, the cold isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
With love, McKenz
