I am *so* over this winter. Between the never-ending pandemic, hours and hours of computer work, and hardly ever leaving the house I’m feeling especially drained these days. Needless to say, I’m craving sunshine and summer. Thankfully I just got a huge batch of new items from SheIn’s spring collection to help get me through these last few weeks of winter.
I was so eager to style my new items that I spent my Wednesday afternoon prancing around downtown in a few dresses despite there still being snow on the ground, lol. I’ve been doing lots of trend forecasting for my fashion classes recently and have rounded up some of the top trends to follow in dresses this season. I’ve already got my hands on a few and am obsessed!
They always say what goes around comes around and this is especially true when it comes to fashion trends. This peasant-style dress was especially popular in the 60s and is making a comeback this upcoming season. Ironically while downtown shooting this outfit an older gentleman stopped me to tell me my “costume” made his day—he said it’s what the girls were wearing when he returned from war.
To modernize this classic silhouette we’re seeing retailers swap out the full skirt for some smocking. This one is fitted throughout the tush area but has those same bishop sleeves that were so popular back in the day.
I love this small-scale floral and the mix of brown and white is so on trend! As we ease our way into warmer temperatures I prefer to pair boots with my dresses. I love the heel height on these and with a matching felt hat, it makes for the perfect combo.

The Netflix Original series Bridgerton took the world by a storm and suddenly everyone and the mother are obsessed with corsets again. Lucky for you, they were already set to be on trend this season. We’ve seen elements of the corset come back in recent seasons with bustier-style cups and lace-up details but a true corset hasn’t been around in decades. When I saw this two-piece strapless dress + corset on SheIn’s site I knew I had to give it a go.
I know this outfit isn’t everyone’s taste but there’s nothing I love more than stepping out of my style comfort zone. Plus, they are insanely flattering, slimming the waist immediately. Because we’re mixing whites throughout this look, I decided a nude sock bootie would pair best with this outfit. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this outfit at first but I have to say, I really love the way it came together.

I’m sure you know by now that chocolate brown is all the rage. I can’t say I’m mad—I find the color insanely complimentary of my coloring and love the way it pairs with nude accessories. I’ve styled a few of these cowl neck dresses over the last few months and am excited to see the silhouette staying in style throughout the spring. This style is flattering on so many different body shapes and really hugs your curves in all the right places. Plus a cowl neckline is so timeless.
If you have a winter wedding coming up, this would be the perfect dress for the occasion! I’m usually not a huge fan of midi dresses on my petite frame but with a pair of lace-up heels, I’m able to elongate the legs. This pair is from Lulus and they are among the most comfortable in my collection. Of course, no outfit of mine would be complete without a statement earring, crossbody bag, and a few simple gold jewels.

Agh, this post has me *so* excited for spring. I’ve got lots more in the box that these dresses came from waiting to be styled for you. I promise I’ll have more to share in the coming weeks. Plus, a spring break lookbook is in the works for all of you DMing me with that request! Hang in there—I’m just as excited as you are.
With love, McKenz
