As I’ve gotten older, so has my audience which means my DMs are flooded with requests for sorority formal dresses. With formal season right around the corner, it’s about time I start cranking out some dress inspiration. I know every school is different so last week I shared a few long dresses from Windsor and today I’m sharing a few short options.
I know my sorority, and most here at Kent State, wear short dresses so in addition to the three dresses I’m styling, I’m also leaving a handful linked for you to shop. Windsor is my go-to for trendy, special occasion dresses that don’t break the bank. Check out dozens of more formal-ready styles here!
Stuck on what to wear? Don’t want to stick out too much? Looking for a dress that you can rewear? All of the above? If so, this little black dress is right up your alley. There’s nothing I love more than a LBD and you can’t go wrong with this one from Windsor. Despite this dress being under $40, it’s a timeless style that works for any occasion. I know I’ll be keeping this in my closet for years to come, as it’s incredibly versatile.
This dress has a super simple silhouette with a bodycon fit and long, sheer sleeves. I scrunched them up just a bit to show off a few gold bracelets and my everyday rings. I am wearing this dress in the XS and it hugs my figure beautifully. I will admit, this does run a bit short so if you’re on the taller side then I recommend skipping out on this.
Although a bold statement color would have looked awesome, I went for just a classic black lace-up heel to elongate the legs. I’m keeping things monochromatic by popping on a cute chain-link crossbody and a pair of hoops to match. This look is super basic and yet it never fails!

If I’m being honest, this dress reminds me more of a high school homecoming dress rather than a college formal but I know my audience has some range so I figured I’d still share this beauty with you. Plus, I still think it’s adorable! This dress has metallic embroidery and the most amazing gold detailing throughout. I’m a sucker for anything in this baby blue and the large-scale floral is perfect for the spring.
Did I mention this dress has pockets too?! It doesn’t get much better than that! With an A-line skirt, you can twirl the night away + light pads along the chest will keep your boobs in place as you break it down on the dance floor. I love the cut of this—I just find that something fitted is the common attire at a sorority formal!
I’m keeping things simple and popping on a pair of nude heels + a crossbody to match. For earrings, I stuck with a big gold hoop!

I’ll admit, this dress isn’t a style I’d typically reach for but the model looked so good in it that I decided it was worth a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this piece for the price and have a feeling many girls will be rocking this backless style this season. It’s so effortless and photographs beautifully.
Although this is another bodycon, this one has a cowl neckline and tie-side detailing giving it a much different vibe. This is the best style to reach for if you struggle with sizing—sinched accents allow you to adjust the length of the dress, making it work regardless of how tall you are. Sticking with a pair of black block heels and my everyday jewelry… the sparkles on this dress will speak for themselves!

Well, which dress was your favorite?! I love the first dress and actually picked it out to wear for my 50,000 subscriber celebration when the time comes. I can’t wait to wear it and know it will look adorable in photos. Let me know which one you liked in the comments below. For all of my youngsters, don’t worry—I’ve got a few prom dresses coming your way soon!
With love, McKenz
