I’ve been dying to take a trip to Nashville for ages now and finally made it happen! My sweet YouTube friend Devon and I were lucky enough to partner with The Gallatin Hotel for the duration of our stay. While we definitely enjoyed our night’s rest, we were out and about all day every day snapping photos, seeing the sights, and exploring Music City.
Of course, with this trip came tons of outfit changes. Not only did I want to snap some cool photos for the sake of my Instagram but, despite popular belief, a Nashville outfit guide is one of my most requested blog posts to date. Today I’m sharing everything I wore throughout the duration of my stay + links to shop.
Keep in mind, my style is a little “out there” for some people. While some people were far more casual than me, Nashville is also jam-packed with tourists so there were plenty of people dressed to the nines. And while some outfits were actually worn for an event, others were simply worn for the photo opp.
For reference, we visited in mid-May and it was sunny and seventy for the entirety of our trip. We couldn’t have asked for better weather! Anywho, enough chitter chatter…. here’s everything I wore in Nashville + my best outfit advice. (Oh, and I’m linking each photo location for easy access to directions.)

If you’re a gal on the go, then a Spanx tennis skirt is right up your alley. The built-in spandex shorts make this skirt easy to move in for a day of travel. I had an early flight so it was still a tad chilly out—a cropped crewneck was necessary. Platform Converse was the perfect shoe for Nashville. The city is nowhere near as walkable as New York but you’ll still be on your feet a decent amount. These shoes were stylish yet still comfortable enough. I added frilly socks for a little extra flare!

Headed to a coffee shop for a morning of computer work. I wanted something comfortable + casual. These pants scream tourist and yet I had to pull them out regardless. I’m wearing the XXS and they fit me like a glove. With a simple tank and sneakers, you can’t go wrong. So many girls were wearing variations of this outfit, especially with Golden Goose sneakers.

I didn’t wear this outfit out, although I wish I had. I’ve never received so much love on an Instagram post before! These boots were an old SheIn find. I picked them up for New York Fashion Week and hadn’t found the chance to wear them again until this trip. A white dress and a funky pair of boots would be the perfect attire for a dinner somewhere like Hampton Social or The White Limousine. These places were more trendy so an outfit like this would totally fit the vibe!

Can’t go to Nashville without pulling out the flares! Fashion Nova is hands down my favorite place to purchase funky denim. They also have tons of trendy, unexpected items that are perfect for a trip here. Lots of the items I brought this time around were from them! I paired these jeans with a bandana top and a felt hat. Both items were worn by so many others, especially along 12 South where the boutiques and murals are. My clogs are from Dingo and are the perfect “strolling” heel as they are real leather and super chunky.

I’ve had this pink suede SheIn set for years now and have been saving it in case I ever got the chance to go to Nashville. I’m so glad I did because it was the perfect fit! If you are celebrating a 21st birthday, bachelorette, or are headed to the bars at night, you’d fit right in with this look. Although, I don’t recommend clear heels unless you are Ubering to your destination as they are the most uncomfortable shoes ever.

This outfit would definitely fly for a night out on Broadway. There is an insane amount of bars along this strip, several of them giving off a more western vibe. Don’t get me wrong, you definitely give off tourist vibes when wearing cow, fringe, and boots together all at once but you look adorable! Plus, this strip is 90% tourists anyways so you blend right in.

I’m not 21 so unfortunately I wasn’t able to wear this outfit out drinking but so many of you told me on Instagram Live that this would have been the perfect look to do it in. White jeans have always given off a dressier vibe and paired with a silk scarf you’ve got an unbeatable duo. These are easily my most comfortable heels so they were perfect for our short walk to dinner.

Whether you’re headed to Broadway during the day or to experience the nightlife, this outfit is a winner. The all-black is super simple but the fringe pants are captivating. So many people stopped to ask me about these—they are old Fashion Nova but I linked a similar pair. I wouldn’t recommend heels for the rooftop bars since you’ll be on your feet all day, but we sat and ate/listened to live music for a few hours so I was fine in these!

This is an adorable outfit for Nashville, although I wouldn’t recommend wearing it to Hampton Social. I figured this would be a cute outfit and although it was, this restaurant definitely had a fancier vibe. I’d recommend a skirt, dress, or nicer pants when headed here.

Easily my favorite outfit of the trip was this denim jumpsuit. I wore this to The Listening Room for live music + lunch and scored dozens of compliments. It’s definitely not a “cowboy hat on” type of place so I left it in my purse until my photo session after. Towards Broadway, there were people wearing cowboy hats left and right so I fit right in. These boots also deserve an honorable mention. They’ve got a touch of western and were some of my most comfortable kicks of the trip.

Nothing screams Nashville like a little bit of fringe. I wish we’d had time to go line dancing. If so, you definitely would have found me in this little fringe set. I love this for a 21st birthday outfit. I didn’t wear my cowboy boots nearly as much as I had hoped but people were wearing them everywhere in the heart of the city. Mine are from Dingo and have held up so well this last year!

Our final day was scorching hot so I traveled in just a basic white tee and denim shorts. Although I loved experimenting with more “out there” items, there were people everywhere wearing variations of this outfit. I love this longer shorts style, especially paired with hightop Converse. Such a cute, easy fit to recreate. Pop on a zip-up for an added layer when headed to the airport.

As you can tell, this trip called for an outfit change every few hours, lol! I traveled with my Long Champ Le Pliage (size large) and while it’s definitely not the cutest bag I could have carried, it was perfect for this trip. I had a change of clothes + my camera with me at all times which made shooting content extremely convenient.
I saw tons of people with fanny packs though so that may be a route worth considering. I will be back in Nash later this summer and will hopefully be sharing a part 2 to this series. This trip was more about shooting content whereas my next will be about seeing sights so I’m sure the outfits will vary!
Phew, that’s a wrap for this post! Be sure to let me know which look is your favorite in the comments below. Oh, and make sure you’re following me on Instagram @styledbymckenz so you don’t miss out on more photos from my trip (I took 5,600 so I promise there are more coming, haha!)
With love, McKenz
