Just like that, we’re wrapping up the last month of 2021—don’t blink! It’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun and this month was certainly that! Between wrapping up my last two weeks of the semester with my girlfriends, taking final exams, a content trip to Florida, and spending the holidays at home with the fam it’s certainly been an eventful month.
We’re currently en route to New York to spend some time with my mom’s side of the fam and I couldn’t be more excited to see everyone (even if we did just see each other in November!). A little family time to close out the year is always appreciated.
Anywho, today I’m back to recap the best of the month. From outfits to music to goal reflecting, let’s hop in!
I spent so much of November in loungewear that I made it my mission to get dressed in a cute fit almost every day throughout December. Even on the days I did reach for leggings or yoga pants, I tried to keep things relatively trendy. I’ve been wearing straight-leg jeans and leather pants all month long. Plus, I’ve been layering with all kinds of Body Contour basics and flannels. This velvet bodysuit from our Christmas party was another fan favorite—it was actually Romwe lingerie but it worked perfectly for the occasion.
As for shoes, white platform Converse and the Hutch booties from Steve Madden have been my go-to’s. They seriously work for every outfit. I brought just those two pairs with me to NY this weekend and they do just the trick!
I made it my mission to get back in the gym this month and I did just that! I don’t have all of my cute workout sets with me at school so I’ve been mixing and matching my “essentials” which consist of Spanx and Aerie pieces. I love my crossover leggings + yoga pants for casual walks on the treadmill and the Spanx Booty Boost leggings for high-intensity workouts.
I’m definitely going to bring some of my fun workout clothes back to school as it felt so good to be active again—even if it was just completing 12-3-30 on the treadmill!
For most of December, I was rounding up holiday outfit ideas. I’ve been sharing tons of mirror-style blog posts recently as it’s been so cold outside and I’ve really struggled to find help shooting photos. To my surprise, you all seemed to like these blog posts more than ever. I hope you found some inspo throughout the season. While I do love a good layering moment, it felt so good to slip into a white mini dress and prance around the Florida beaches.
I sure do love summer fashion and am thrilled about my Hawaii trip next week and all the summer fashion that will come with it. Honorable mention for that mesh, pearl bodysuit. This was my most-liked outfit of 2022 and dozens of you purchased this piece for yourself! Double yay!
At the beginning of the month, I received a handful of goodies from Tula and I’ve been loving them! I haven’t gotten to try everything yet but here are a few favs—
This month was all about cheesy Christmas movies… I haven’t gotten around to watching any TV yet but I’m dying to watch the Sex In The City spin-off! If you’ve watched it, let me know what you thought down below. No spoilers though!!!
Instead of TV I’ve been on a big music kick. I go in and out of phases but this month I’ve been loving Chris Stapleton and Caamp. As per usual, I’m leaving my top five favorite songs down below.
This Month’s Top 5: A Simple Song by Chris Stapleton // When The Stars Come Out by Chris Stapleton // The War Inside by Chris Stapleton // 26 by Caamp // Mind Over Matter by Young The Giant
Well I didn’t end up hitting my Tik Tok goal or my Instagram goal but I still managed to crank out some content I was really proud of and at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters right?!
I wrote last month that I really wanted to spend December prepping for 2022, debriefing what has worked and what hasn’t over the year. I had a major meltdown last night as I looked over all I’ve accomplished in the last six years + how I want to move forward with my platforms. I’m so proud of all I’ve done and yet I can’t help but be nervous as I enter a year of so much uncertainty…
I’m actually going to sit down and write a whole separate post on New Year’s goals. I’m a huge fan of the clean slate and love setting resolutions + working toward one common goal all year round. As a very self-motivated person, this has always worked for me. Stay tuned— I’ll have that post live in the next week or so.
After Thanksgiving, I had just two full weeks back in Kent to partaje in a few end-of-the-year festivities and complete my finals. We had Christmas parties, gift exchanges, a day trip to Cleveland, and so much more going on. It’s safe to say I ended on a good note!
I finished up the semester with my first 4.0 (semester recap coming soon!) and received the top recommendation for my Fashion Forecasting final project which was a huge deal for me. I’m so proud of myself for being able to manage it all this semester!
Sadly all good things must come to an end meaning I said goodbye to my besties and packed my car for a long drive home. I packed my bags and was off to Florida the very next day for my December content trip.
Sam came with me and we spent the most amazing five days in Casey Key, Florida soaking up the sunshine + shooting photos. It was truly the most relaxing vacation and I’m so grateful we were able to continue our monthly trips with one another. Plus, we got to meet up with one of my old friends Harris for a day on his boat and it was so much fun. I’ll have the travel + outfit guide from this trip live within the coming weeks. Just trying to crank out some end of year posts first!
I got home a week ago and have spent the rest of December soaking up time with the fam + celebrating all the Christmas festivities. We had a mellow holiday and yet it was still a good one. We’re spending the rest of the week in New York with the fam and then bam time to ring in the New Year, celebrate Styled Bys sixth birthday, and pack up for Hawaii! What an exciting season of life—I’m so grateful to be sharing it with you. Happy holidays lovies! I hope it’s been the best ever.
With love, McKenz
