Let’s be real, I get a lot of clothes through my door. I’m constantly reviewing + styling new pieces and despite popular belief, there are a handful of items that I reach for time and time again. Believe me, I love a statement shoe or bright, frilly dress but there’s something about these basics that keep me coming back.
Today I’m sitting down to share the top ten most worn items in my closet as of this winter. Plus, I’m sharing a dozen outfits featuring the pieces so you can see how I’m styling them throughout my day-to-day. Because, honestly most of these can be dressed up or down—hence why they are always on repeat.
Truthfully I’ve never been much of a leather jacket girl. I find them incredibly hard to style and they are always too stiff in the shoulders. Plus, the hardware is always silver and that throws me off with all of my gold jewelry. However, several months ago I picked up this leather shacket from SheIn and I’ve been wearing it nonstop ever since.
For starters, I love that this is longer. It’s super easy to balance an outfit with something boxier like this piece. Plus, it fits similar to an oversized flannel so you can layer tiny tank tops or chunky sweaters underneath. It doesn’t add much warmth but it ties every outfit together. I wear this on a day-to-day basis but I wear it out to the bars/parties most often. Puffer coats kill the vibe but this adds just the right touch.
You’ll notice that all three of these outfits also include the same jeans and boots; hence what I mean when I say I have a few favorites.
I have two pairs of black heeled boots that I reach for. These Petal and Pup ones (on the left) are the perfect height. They are short enough to wear to class but they’ve also got just the right shape to them that they can be worn out to the bars as well.
I also have a taller pair of sock booties—they are years old from Pretty Little Thing but I’ll link a similar pair for you to shop. These have a much pointier toe-box that dress every outfit up in no time. I only wear these when going out to a party or to an event but they still get tons of use.
I have at least 30 pairs of jeans in my Ohio closet and probably 30 more sitting at home in my Maryland closet. And yet, I can’t shake these blue straight-leg jeans. I’ve owned a lot of jeans in my life, clearly, and none have ever fit me as well as these. Not to mention, I’ve never found a pair easier to style.
In the spring/fall I go through a big ankle-length phase—they look great with sneakers + strappy sandals. However, full-length, raw hem bottoms are much better suited for chunky boots and chilly temperatures. I wear these at least twice a week and will cry the day Express stops selling them. I’m a 25-inch waist, 5’2″, and wear a 00 regular in their denim.
I got my white platform Converse for Christmas two years ago and have been wearing them non-stop ever since. There is truly no easier shoe to style. I wear these to class, the bars, the airport—you name it. Not only can they be worn everywhere, but they can also be worn all the time. A seasonless sneaker that looks good whether it’s short season or not. If you haven’t gotten your hands on a pair; what are you waiting for.
I want to note that I have two pairs of white platforms—a Converse and a Steve Madden. If you choose the Steve Madden route, go up a half size as they run a little snug.
I’ve been trying to make a habit of getting back into the gym this semester and it’s doing wonders for my mental health. Don’t get me wrong, I’m probably in better shape than I’ve been in in years but still, that’s not really the point.
I’ve always been a sucker for a cute matching workout set and while I have dozens, a majority of them are at home. So instead of having my mom ship them to me, I’ve resorted to picking up some new fun pieces. This Feather Fit collection is to die for. The material is very similar to Yogalicious and their silhouettes are almost identical to Lululemon.
I don’t sweat through their lighter colors and they don’t slip while I workout. 10/10 I’ve ordered three more colors since. Of course, with a hoodie popped over top, I’m sure you could sport these to class too!
I’ve been back on the yoga pants bandwagon since August but I wear them so much that it felt wrong not to include them in this post. There’s something about leggings with a “regular” outfit that just feels weird to me—I tend to only wear them as lounge/workout wear. As for yoga pants, I could style them all day long.
I love layering up sweatshirts, puffers, scarves, etc with these. They are so comfortable but above all they make me feel incredible about my body. I’m not sure what Aerie puts in these but I need 100 more.
I’ve honestly never been a big outerwear girl when it comes to accessories. I’d hate when my mom asked me to add a hat, scarf, or gloves to keep warm. However, temperatures have been nothing but brutal here recently and the added layer has been a must. I’ve grabbed a few scarves here and there and have come to love the way they effortlessly complete an outfit.
Plus, it’s a really easy way to coordinate colors; as you can see I’m a big fan of my scarf matching my shoes!
I’ve been getting lots of questions on the best winter weather shoes… truthfully, I have a big ole pair of snow boots, lined with fur, but I stupidly left them at home. On our first snow day, I was left with no choice but to wear these Franco Sarto boots (on the left).
Admittedly, I didn’t think they’d hold up that great but I’ve been wearing them nonstop since. I’ve trekked through feet of snow without ever getting my foot wet. They look so much more stylish than your average snow boot and leave no water stains upon drying. Cannot say enough good things about these.
I’ve also been wearing my mini Uggs left and right. To be honest, these kind of act as my “outdoor slippers”. Like any time I run to take out the trash or grab my mail, I throw these on because they are so easy + they keep my feet extra toasty. Get the Koolaburra version if you’re looking to save some $$$. (They are the same fur + Uggs sister brand😉).
Speaking of jeans, I’ve also been wearing these black ripped ones left and right. It’s funny because I actually put one of these posts together every year and even freshman year of college I was sporting black ripped jeans at least once a week. They are just effortless to style + are a never-fail when heading out to a party with a minorly slutty tank, lol.
I actually cannot believe I don’t have a photo with this puffer on… I have so many jackets in my closet, it’s unbelievable. However, this black one is my most worn. I wear this daily to the gym and leave it by the front door so it too has become an “errand jacket” being slipped into whenever I’m leaving the house last minute. Go up a size for a little extra wiggle room.

Believe me, there are hundreds of clothing items coming through my door each day and yet these pieces still take the cake, helping me style endless outfits. I hope to start doing these every month so that you can get a better idea of what’s worth splurging on. Stay tuned for the spring one… coming (not) soon enough!
