It’s been one week since I moved cross country for my summer internship and my space is finally complete! As you may know from my YouTube and Instagram, I moved into an apartment with two of my internet friends. I’ve visited Sam and Jules several times over the last few months and when their third roommate was looking to move out, it seemed like fate that I move in.
I currently have the master which means I have the biggest bedroom complete with two closets and my own bathroom. I’ll share pictures of the full apartment later this month but for now, I wanted to tackle the bedroom.
I’m only going to be in this apartment for the summer so I wanted to pick a “theme” that was a little out of my comfort zone. I’ve done grey and pink, the classic black and white, and even a boho aesthetic in my last college room but decided for my summer in California that something bright and pink would be perfect.
Because my apartment came unfurnished and I was flying here, I ended up just ordering a bed from Lull. They are one of those boxed mattress companies that also offer bed frames, duvets, and pillows. I got everything I needed from them and shipped it here early so that the day I arrived in California I could begin assembling. I’m the least handy person ever and I built this on my own in less than an hour. I’m obsessed!

I ended up ordering a couple of fuchsia pillowcases from Amazon and brought this pale pink throw from my freshman year dorm. Both of these hues tied in with the huge area rug I got from Rugs.com. I usually go for a neutral rug and I’m so glad I switched it up for this bedroom. The bright colors add so much to this space. My room is fairly large so I have an 8×10 to help open up the room even more + cover some ground.

Of course, no bedroom of mine is complete without a few wall prints from Desenio. I’ve worked with this Scandinavian wall art company several times over the years and have created some really gorgeous spaces with them.
I’m partnering with them again this month and have chosen some adorable pieces to help bring all of that blank wall space to life. As you can see, I went for a mix of yellows and pinks pulling inspiration from my California summer and my future European travels. You are also able to purchase frames from them—I went with white this time around.
If you’re interested in purchasing you can use my code MCKENZIE for 40% off prints from today June 2nd through June 9th at midnight. Happy shopping!
I’ve got two closets here—the first is a walk-in closet where I’m keeping all of my clothes and heels. The other is the entire length of one wall. Surprisingly enough, I actually don’t have enough stuff to fill this one. I’ve got empty suitcases, purses, and a few folded clothing items.
The girls had two large mirrors in the living room so I dragged one into my bedroom so that I can plan outfits and shoot photos. I love all of this natural light pouring through. With the exception of a little nightstand, I don’t have any other furniture here.
As I said, I also have my own bathroom here. It has a double sink and all kinds of storage space. My shower is nice and spacious and I even have my own bathtub. I’m not a big bath girl but I’m sure I’ll use it at some point.
I ended up bringing my light pink towels from my freshman year dorm to tie in with the bedroom!
I absolutely love the way this space came together and am honestly sad that I’ll only be here to enjoy it for just a couple of months. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to bring everything home with me and use all of it in my next space too. If you’re interested in seeing the process of me setting everything up + unpacking make sure you catch up on my California moving playlist.
I truly feel at home in this new space. Stay tuned for more fun!
With love, McKenz
