The summer of 2020, when we were all stuck inside during the peak of Covid I launched a date ideas series here on styeldbymckenz.com. I got creative, sharing an outfit idea for sixteen of your most requested dates. I’ve kept it going every season since. With it being the dead of summer, I figured now was the perfect time to share my 2022 installment. Today’s post is full of new, affordable items that just came in the mail.
Per usual, these date ideas are from YOU guys via an Instagram question box to make this post as authentic and helpful as possible. As always, I’m leaving everything linked so you can easily recreate these outfits. Whether you’re off on a date, or hitting these activities with your friends, you’re sure to do it in style with one of these looks. I hope you enjoy!

Farmer’s markets are so popular around us in the summer! It’s such a fun way to stock up on fruits and veggies + they always have fun knick-knacks to look at. My roommates and I usually go in the morning when it’s still a little brisk outside. In that case, I’d stick to jeans. I just got these straight legs from Express and am loving them. They are a stiffer denim so I’d recommend sizing up.
Up top, I’m wearing a cute cropped, puff sleeve tee. Slipping into my most-worn straw sandals and my go-to tote bag to match. I love this!

Picnics seem to be everyone’s most frequent summer date! It’s one of the few things I’ve ever done with a boy but it sure does sound fun! I’d keep things really simple with a tank top and shorts. While I love the idea of a dress, it just doesn’t seem very practical for sitting down on a blanket!
This tank has a cute floral print that’s perfect for the occasion. Simple sandals that you can slip off and a small purse to fit the essentials will complete this outfit in no time.

Nothing beats a summer concert. I’m a country girl at heart so this little yee-haw tank made perfect sense. Paired with cut-off denim shorts and my favorite cowgirl boots this is an iconic pairing. Just missing my favorite cowboy hat to pull it all together!
I love a little downtown stroll, especially this time of year. Here in California, there are so many cute surf shops to pop in and out of. For this, you can’t go wrong with a cute tank and shorts. This bubblegum pink is one of my favorite colors right now. It makes the white shorts pop big time. I’m adding a few pale pink accessories to go with—mixing the same hue will elevate your outfit in no time.

So many of you said that you were off to an amusement park this summer. I love a day of riding rollercoasters and eating yummy snacks! For this occasion, I’d go for a sporty unitard. These have been so popular this summer and I’m absolutely obsessed with them. Not only do you look super cute but they are incredibly practical for a day on the move. This one is so flattering, sculpting your curve while giving your butt and boobs a little bit of lift.
I’d definitely wear sneakers but instead of running shoes, I’m just going for my platform Converse. I find these comfortable enough for a day on my feet! Can’t go without a hat to keep the sun off your face and a Lululemon belt bag to store all of your essentials. These are great because they are strapped right onto you so It doesn’t feel like you’re carrying anything
Lunch dates are the perfect mid-day pick-me-up. You can almost always find me in a little romper during these summer months. I love the ruffles on this bright pink one. For shoes, I’m wearing my go-to lace-up sandals. I got these years ago from Express and just can’t seem to let them go. I can walk miles in these and they seriously match everything.
They came out with a new style this season that’s similar—I’ll link it below for you!
Now that I’m 21 the idea of a winery sounds so fun! Such a cute date idea. I’d wear a dressier romper or a simple sundress with a pair of platforms. These give me a little bit of height but are still really easy to walk in which is, of course, a must. Add a purse to match and you’re good to go. So simple yet so cute!
There’s simply nothing I love more than a baseball game. A hot dog, sports, and good company is my idea of a perfect night. If you don’t have any team gear, then I recommend something super basic. I’m wearing one of my all-time favorite tops from Express’s Body Contour line, then tossing on a linen button-up. I always recommend having a lightweight layer for when it cools down.
On the bottom, I’m wearing my favorite denim shorts and tossing on a pair of high-top sneakers. You can’t go wrong with the Winston sneakers from Steve Madden. I have these in both colors and admittedly, wear them more than my Converse.

I’m guilty of getting ice cream almost every day in the summertime… admittedly, I usually go in a comfy sweat set or an oversized tee but if a boy were taking me on a date, I’d change into something a little cuter. A fun tank and jean shorts make it look like you put some thought into your outfit without trying too hard!

Vacation season is here and it sounds like several of you are going on one with your significant other. I’m not sure that qualifies as a “date” but I figured I’d give you ladies a bit of outfit inspiration. To be honest, almost all of these outfits could be brought on the trip and work just fine!
For a fun night out in a beachy town, I’d reach for something like this two-toned midi dress. I’m a sucker for this color blocking right now and love the way this fitted dress hugs my curves. I’m keeping things simple with a pair of white block heels and a small purse to match!
Going out to dinner is one of my favorite things to do. Especially in the summertime when you can eat out on the patio. If you’re not sure about the vibe of the restaurant, I definitely recommend wearing a romper. This way you look a little dressier than denim but not as fancy as a dress! This green one is so flattering with its halter neckline.
I popped on one of my favorite crossbody purses and a pair of short heels from Dolce Vita. These are super comfortable and are one of my most reached for “in-between” shoes.
I was shocked to see how many of you said that your most frequent activity with your man is a hot girl walk! I can’t blame you—there’s nothing I love more than walking with a friend. Bonus points since it’s free! I love wearing a matching set for my morning strolls.
I just got this cute white duo from SheIn’s Glowmode collection and am loving it! The shorts run super tiny so if you’re on the taller side, I’d skip out on these. The sports bra, however, is fantastic. It’s got lightly lined pads and tons of support. Plus, you can’t beat that scrappy back! Of course, I’m tossing on a Lulu belt bag and a pair of comfy sneakers.
So many of you looking for some lake/beach/boat day inspiration. I go to the water every single day after work, and I kid you not, wear the same outfit every single day. Start off in a swimsuit then toss on a button-up. You can leave this buttoned around family for a little extra coverage or leave it unbuttoned for more of a cover-up feel.
This piece is so versatile and comes in a gazillion colors. I then pop on a pair of cutoff denim shorts and my Rainbow flip flops which are my #1 beach day must-have. I’ve had mine since high school and they are still kicking it. They take a while to break in but once you do they are so good.

I sure do love a good night out. No matter the season, I almost always reach for a little black top and heels. Depending on the weather I’ll switch up my bottoms. This top has a sweetheart neckline that’s so flattering. To give the look a little contrast I went for bright white denim shorts.
Nothing gives me a confidence booster quite like lace-up heels. These elongate and slim the legs, making me feel 100% time better. I’m tying everything together with a chain link purse. I bring this out with me almost every time I go as it fits just the essentials—card, keys, lip gloss! Despite being under $15, this scores me compliments every time I go out!

Wedding guest season is in full swing and I know many of you may be attending or bringing some as a plus one. You can’t go wrong with a satin midi dress. These have been trending for a couple of seasons now and tend to fit almost any wedding dress code that may be in place. This one has a super cute cowl neckline and an open back that’s very flattering.
For shoes, I’m popping on my newest platforms from Steve Madden. These are super comfortable to walk in with their flat sole. Plus, I’ve got a cute crossbody to match.
I used to go to the golf course all the time to hit balls at the driving range. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my guy friends—despite being terrible at it, lol. Partly because I’m a sucker for any excuse to wear a tennis skirt! I have the Spanx get Moving Skort in every single color because it’s just that good.
This is their new pleated style and it’s so fun. Of course, I had to wear a matching sports bra. I also have this in every color. Their longline style is designed to have extra support, holding everything in place. If you’re a bustier gal, you’ll love these. They are a bit longer than your average sports bra so I usually just wear them on their own for the cropped tank vibe.
