Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a week in the Outer Banks. My family and I have been vacationing here every summer for as long as I can remember and no matter how many cool places I travel to, it remains at the top of my list. There’s something about the five-minute walk to the beach, the outdoor shower, and the familiarity of it all that just feels…. right.
I do plan on sharing a mini travel guide for the Outer Banks later this week but in the meantime, I figured I’d give you a peak into my week full of bikinis and lots of resting as I recover from my appendix surgery. Thank you again for all of your love and prayers—I’m feeling worlds better and am almost fully healed! Woohoo.
With love, McKenz
relaxing this week… just one post for ya!

There’s no vlog quite like one with the whole fam back together, especially when it’s in our favorite spot. Sharing a slow, relaxing, week in my life. A goodie if you ask me! Subscribe so you don’t miss out on more “home” vlogs.

Our wedding weekend wrapped up in New York with a send-off brunch at the country club. They had an omelet station which was so yummy. We mingled some more and then said our goodbyes, hopping in the car and getting on the road. Unpacking and repacking for our trip to the Outer Banks tomorrow! Always on the move.

We drove to the beach bright and early this morning, arriving in time for me to have my butt in the sand before lunch. I’m taking it easy, still recovering from surgery this week—covering my scars, staying out of the water, and just sitting + reading all day. It felt so good to be back in the sunshine.

Off to the beach for my usual 9-5 day. I spent almost the entire day reading, finishing Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover. It was amazing, one of my favorite books from her. We went to dinner tonight at Hurricane Mos, one of my favorite spots on the island. It was delicious!

Started a new book today, Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and spent much of the afternoon with my chair perched right above the shoreline. After coming in and showering for the night, Madison and I went back to the beach for some sunset photos in our white dresses… coming soon to Instagram!

Was finally feeling better today and had some serious progress with my scars so I was able to go in the water finally! Thankfully the water was super flat the entire week with no waves whatsoever ever so I was able to go in for a little bit at a time. I finished up Daisy Jones and loved it—she’s amazing! Then off to dinner with Connor’s grandparents at another one of our favorite dinner spots, Barefoot Bernies. So fun!

By now you should know that when we vacation at the beach we mean breakfast, beach, lunch, beach, dinner, sleep, repeat. LOL. It’s my ideal way to spend the day so I don’t mind. Spent some more time in the water today and started The Woman In The Window. Not a huge fan of this read so far, I have to admit.

Woke up bright and early to catch the sunrise again today. It was even better than yesterdays. It was our last beach day so I finished up my book. I don’t think I’ve ever read three books so fast but that’s what happens when you’re basically put on “chair rest” for the week, haha. Feeling full as I packed up my beach chair and headed in for the night. It really has been the perfect summer.
