My next weekend trip on the calendar was to Barcelona, Spain for a fun few days of sightseeing, eating, and exploring. With Barcelona being right along the coastline, it’s a popular spot to hit in the summertime. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to visiting until early November so my itinerary probably looked a bit different than most!
I didn’t find much on Pinterest when searching up “fall outfit ideas for Barcelona” so I figured today’s blog post was necessary. I was struggling with those awkward transition temperatures but still managed to put together some cute, practical outfit ideas for my three-day stay.

The Cheetah Girls called and said that denim mini skirts are back in style. I found this adorable pleated mini skirt on Revolve’s website last month and knew that it would be the perfect piece to style for this trip. There are endless ways to wear this cute skirt but with brisker temperatures, I played it safe and paired this with one of my favorite boat neck sweaters. I brought this on my last three European travels and have been getting so much use out of it. It’s the perfect lightweight layer and looks great with a few necklaces.
The weather in Barcelona was a bit unpredictable—while it was sunny enough to keep my legs bare, there were many times during our day of exploring that I needed a scarf to keep my shoulders warm. I bring one with me pretty much everywhere these days because they are just so practical during a European travel day. Definitely don’t forget to pack one!
As for shoes, I cannot say enough good things about the Steve Madden Hutch boots. We visited Park Guell and spent the rest of the day exploring, racking up over 25,000 steps… and my feet survived! I don’t know about you, but I find that pretty impressive for a shoe this cute. I usually wear these with tall boot socks that peak out the top—linking my favorites since so many of you asked.

I got this two-piece set from Pepper Mayo back in August and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to pull it out. A day full of sightseeing in Barcelona seemed like a pretty fitting time. This set is a lightweight-knit fabric so it was the perfect weight for the “in-between” temperatures Barcelona was serving. I was grateful to be in long sleeves and a maxi skirt to keep me covered but also wasn’t sweating.
This top has a square neckline that’s super flattering with an open-back cutout. The skirt is meant to be low-rise but Pepper Mayo pieces tend to run a little long. At 5’2″ this was high waisted on me and reached my ankles. This set hugs every curve and is so flattering. I would have loved to pair it with heels to accentuate my figure but Zina sneakers were a must for another full day of walking.
Popped that same scarf on to wear as a shawl over my shoulders and added my favorite crossbody purse to match. Sadly I don’t have a link for this as I bought it handmade in Morocco, Africa during a previous study abroad trip. Been getting so much use out of it since being here!

You can’t go wrong with jeans and a white tee… like ever! I actually bought these high-waisted culotte jeans while in Barcelona. Let me tell you, the shopping is incredible here. I found these pants for $22 from Mango and they fit me perfectly. I love the raw hem and ankle cut. These will look perfect with sneakers but also paired so well with my favorite boots.
Up top, I’m wearing one of my go-to cropped long sleeves from SheIn’s basics collection. I have this in a handful of colors and it’s one of my favorite pieces. Endless ways to style it and the high neck looks so good with layered necklaces. Big, big fan. I ended up keeping my brown denim shacket with me, popping it on and off at various points throughout the day. Layers will be your best friend here! Trust me.

You may have noticed that my recent outfit guides have far fewer outfit ideas compared to usual. I’ve been traveling with my roommates rather than other bloggers so there hasn’t been as much time to shoot outfit photos—just focusing on enjoying each city and snapping pictures as I go!
I wish there was a way to get the best of both worlds as I love sharing dozens of outfits at a time but also enjoy the leisure of a trip when I’m just getting dressed to get dressed. Perhaps I’ll find a happy medium one of these days. In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed and look forward to sharing more cities with you as I round out my study abroad semester!
With love, McKenz

My favorite outfit of these is the long skirt outfit. Surely sandals or some chic flats would work with that cropped top and maxi skirt, but these sneakers sweetly compliment the cropped top and skirt. Very well styled with all of these outfits!
