Rome, Italy was by far one of my favorite destinations of the year. I’ve truly never seen so much beauty and history packed into one place. I’m currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy so Rome is just a short train ride away! It really is the perfect place for a day trip. So much to do and see—if you want my full 24-hour itinerary check out this blog post.
Not sure what to wear? Today I’m sharing two outfit ideas perfect for your fall visit to the city. As always, click pink text for direct links to shop each item!
This outfit is so European and would work for many Italian cities, not just Rome. I’m starting off in a black fitted mock neck top. This is hands down one of the most worn pieces in my closet. It layers effortlessly and looks great under so many pieces, especially a sweater vest. This ivory cable knit one is from Princess Polly; I’ve worn it countless times throughout my four months here as it is truly so versatile.
Rome is the perfect place to break out the tights + skirt combo. You’ll see this all over your Italian Pinterest boards and in person too. They look so chic, especially with a pair of tall boots. Don’t forget socks to match. While I was fine during the day in this outfit, I recommend a light leather jacket of some sort once the sun goes down as temps can shift pretty quickly this time of year.

This outfit is a similar variation to the last one but is still a favorite! Up top, I’ve got on an adorable turtleneck sweater. This is a little longer so it looks more like a dress on my petite frame. However, it has a large slit along the side so I’ve put a leather skirt on underneath.
On the bottom half, I’ve got on a pair of polka dot tights and the same black boots. I love these shoes and have put hundreds of miles on them. They are hands down some of the most comfortable in my closet here and they look so good with both jeans and skirts. I’ve got another Polene purse on to complete this outfit- I recommend bringing a crossbody to the city as Rome is known for having some of the worst pickpocketings in Europe. Having your stuff strapped down to you is a lifesaver!
