Nothing’s sexier than a sustainable swimsuit. Upon popular request today I’m reviewing five different high-end swimwear brands. Whether it be female-owned and operated, size-inclusive, or ethically sourced these brands are changing the swimsuit game one design at a time.
Today I’m trying out Maaji, Seven Swimwear, Dippin Daisys, Nika Swim, and Cupshe. Let me know which brands you’d like to see me test out next! I’m always looking for new brands to try out and small businesses to support. xo
I’m sure you’ve heard of Maaj before. This incredible, sustainable swim brand was founded by two sisters in Columbia! They pride themselves on four-way and reversible styles so you can get the most wear out of your suits. Maaji is sold around the world and can be shopped online and in iconic stores like Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and small beachside boutiques.
I couldn’t love this suit more. The quality of these suits is unreal with some of the softest nylon you’ve ever felt. This suit is reversible so you can wear it with its fun funky pattern or with bright pink. Because this top can be reversed it has no padding. The bottoms are very simple, fitting similarly to your favorite pair of cheeky underwear. These are so flattering and are meant to be worn higher up on the hips to elongate the legs. Love!
Most Maaji prints come with a few different tops and bottoms so you can choose from a variety of styles. This scoop-style top has always been one of my favorites as it’s supportive enough for a day full of swimming. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and get a strappy bottom. I’ve never seen this type of self-tie but I’m obsessed!
I’ve been wearing Seven Swimwear for two years now and wow their stuff is amazing! The owner Hannah is a Florida native and is just so incredible. Her designs are effortlessly chic and crazy flattering. Plus, their suits are sustainably made by a 100% female team! Talk about a brand full of girl bosses. They just released a new collection with Amanda Pavillard that’s to die for!
I’ve owned over 500 bathing suits in my lifetime and this suit is without a doubt my favorite. I know I know… it sounds crazy because it’s just a simple black bikini but let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like this one from Seven Swim. String bikini tops are effortlessly flattering giving your boobs all the lift while leaving minimal tan lines. These bottoms are tiny in coverage but oh-so-flattering, making my legs look miles long. I couldn’t love this more if I tried.
How fun is this string suit?! This has little beads between the cups and along the sides. Such a unique touch that makes a basic bikini that much cuter.
I wish you could feel the material of this swimsuit through the screen— Seven Swimwear suits feel like butter, double-lined, and the most insane quality. This top has a sexy criss-cross detail along the bust and ties around the neck for a halter-like fit. As for the bottoms, these have a classic, hipster fit that makes your butt look amazing.
Omg, I wish these came in a million colors, lol. I’ve truly never had a pair of bottoms like it!
Everyone loves a good Dippin Daisys suit. This brand has blown up on Instagram over the last year thanks to its size-inclusive styles, huge variety, and sustainable practices. They have so many different tops and bottoms that you can mix and match. Feels like luxury swim for a fraction of the cost + they are always ahead of the trend!
Dippin Daisys just came out with these bikinis featuring this fun textured material. It has a waffle-like feel that’s so unique. Up top, I’m wearing one of their most popular designs—the Zen top. This comes in over 40 colors and in sizes XS-3X. It’s flattering on every figure and stays in place all day. These high waist bottoms provide all the coverage—covering up the waistline and tush. A great family-friendly option if you’re planning on a vacation sometime soon.
I recommend sizing up in this style as this specific material runs a little snug!
Dippin Daisys just recently launched this adorable silver sparkle collection. This fabric glitters big time in the sun! Admittedly, I wasn’t impressed with the quality of this suit, especially for the higher price tag. The sparkles were a bit scratchy and the inner white lining kept slipping through along the bottoms. Loved the fit of this suit but would have preferred it in another colorway.
Nika Swim was just launched in March by 21-year-old Abi Greer. She’s on a mission to give girls swimsuits that leave them thinking less about what they look like and more about how they feel. Because she just launched she only has a few suits on her site but they are adorable, sustainable, and ready to be shopped!
Wow! I cannot believe how supportive this bathing suit top was. This ties along the neckline and clasps along the bust, hugging your chest in all the right places. As you can tell, it dips down a bit in the center giving you just the right amount of cleavage without risking a nip slip. I’m a big fan of these bottoms—they are lined along the edges which kept these from moving around during my day of swimming. Such a great suit to be active in!
It’s hard to find a suit that has cut-outs but is still supportive. Both the top and bottoms of this guy are adjustable so you can cater this to different chest and waist sizes. I am a 34B in the chest and am wearing their smallest size. This ended up being a perfect choice! It laces up the back which I love and has cute little cutouts along the waist.
In my eyes, Cupshe is an affordable luxury. They are a step up from your typical Amazon/SheIn bikini but they don’t break the bank either. Their styles are definitely a higher quality but their pricing isn’t as high as your typical “high-end” bikini. They aren’t the most sustainable company on the market as their transparency is a bit hazy but they are a step in the right direction if you’re looking to step up your game!
You can’t beat a strappy bathing suit! This specific string-style top can be tied three different ways— around the neck, straight back, or along the chest for a strapless look. Such a versatile option. The bottoms are rather skimpy with string sides and cheeky coverage. Minimal tan lies with this one!
As I said, that top can be styled a few different ways—here it is strapless!
WOW! I just couldn’t love this swimsuit more. The top is lightly padded with thick adjustable straps that go straight back. This style has tons of support and with a little bit of underwire along the cups, it’s certainly holding everything in place for a day full of playing mermaids. These bottoms are crazy flattering with a high-cut fit and a dip along the center that helps elongate the legs in no time!
One of the most supportive tops on the market is this one right here—this fits just like a bra with underwire cups, thick straps, and a little bit of push-up. This combo is a bustier girl’s best friend. The bottoms are super simple with a basic hipster-like fit. I love this style for a day full of swimming. Not too cheeky either!
You know me… when I like something I must get it in every color. This suit also came in a classic back that I just couldn’t resist. This suit was a part of the Stassie collection which also had several different cover-up options. I grabbed this adorable black mesh maxi skirt—so chic!
I’m so happy I was able to try out some new (to me) swimsuit brands. I’ve already been eyeing a few more and cannot wait to continue showing small-business, sustainable love as we approach summertime. Let me know which brands you’d like to see me share next. Until then stay up to date on my daily swimsuits via Instagram.
