Spring is here—bring on all the color! I found this amazing dress from the designer Rachel Parcell and couldn’t be more obsessed. This pale orange is the perfect hue for this time of year and it matched my favorite beaded clutch to a tee. I carry this for so many different events; it fits all the essentials!
This dress is fitted the whole way through and the puff sleeves + ruffles give this piece so much shape. I’m 5’2″ and this hits just at the ankles, making this more of a midi dress. When it comes to midi dresses you can almost always find me in a pair of Dolce Vita Paily heels. I have these in several colors and they really are the best. They’ve got a shorter heel and keep your foot at a really comfortable arch. These are always my go-to shoes when I know I’ll be on my feet for hours on end.
You really, truly can never go wrong with a little black dress. This strapless style is fitted throughout the bodice and butt giving way to a mermaid skirt. You usually see this style dress with a floor-length gown, so I was excited to see Windsor release a midi version of this hem! It’s flattering on every figure, hugging the waist beautifully.
To make this more “spring friendly” I added pops of pink. This clutch is another favorite of mine. Check out Petal & Pup’s accessory line, they always have super cute pieces that effortlessly complete a look.
Headed to a black-tie wedding? I highly suggest trying out the tulle trend this wedding season. I’ve been seeing these all over my Pinterest feed and I can see why, they photograph beautifully and leave everyone feeling like a pretty princess. Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely an “over the top” piece so make sure to double-check that dress code before purchasing this guy!
Petal & Pup is where I get most of my wedding guest dresses. They have a gazillion styles and they are always running sales. Plus, their dresses are the type that you can re-wear for several other events. I wore this beautiful emerald green dress to a wedding last summer and scored so many compliments on it. This silk material clings to your body in the best way, hugging your tush in all the right places.
This also has a beautiful open back with a drapey detail that’s just stunning. Throw it on with a simple purse and a pair of Dolce Vita heels and you’re good to go.
Everyone loves a black-tie wedding. It’s like adult prom but better! I found this beautiful rust-colored dress from Windsor and was stunned by its fit. This dress is made of a jersey-like material that clings to the body so beautifully. This fabric is known for its drape so it came as no surprise to see how beautifully this skirt hung.
This has an incredible lace-up detail along the back and a high leg slit that makes your legs look miles long. I suggest a lace-up heel to go with!
I have this Lulus dress in two colors now and it’s truly one of the best on the market! I mean come on, nothing is hotter than that plunging neckline… it’s sexy yet still classy. The bodice of this dress gives way to a skirt full of tiered ruffles. I’ve worn this to a rehearsal dinner/welcome party before and can confirm that you will 100% want to spend the entire evening twirling in circles + dancing your heart out.
This style sells out quickly but they constantly restock it so just sign up for emails if your size/color combination isn’t available at the moment.
I’m sure when you think of a wedding guest dress, a silk, cowl-neck midi dress comes to mind. These dresses have been around since the 90s. They look amazing on everyone and are truly such timeless pieces— it’s no wonder they’ve never gone out of style. This dress comes in over 15 colors and is the perfect piece to wear as a wedding guest. Chances are you’ll be able to wear this again later down the line as a bridesmaids dress.
Similar to that last dress is this adorable one-shoulder style. If you’re a bustier gal, you’ll probably find this one more flattering. Because this dress is made of silk, it runs a little tight. I’d suggest going up a size for a little more breathing room. For reference, I’m wearing a 2.
I’m a sucker for this burnt orange—it screams lazy hazy summer sunset. If you’re looking for something a little brighter there are 4 other colorways available on Petal & Pup’s’ website.
If you’ve got several weddings on the calendar this year I also suggest checking out Rent The Runway. This is an amazing alternative to buying a dress you’ll only wear once! They have hundreds of designers and some incredible styles. I’ve used them twice before and have nothing but good things to say. They have a few different plans — read up on them here to see which is best suited for you and your wedding guest schedule!
There’s nothing better than celebrating other people’s love. If you enjoyed this post be sure to let me know in the comments below and I can round up a few more styles for a part 2 to this wedding guest post. Until then, happy shopping!
