According to Tik Tok, all the cool girls are having an “East Coast summer”. I’ve been dying to explore the New England area and June seemed like the perfect time to finally pay a visit. The girls and I packed my car and drove North! We spent the week exploring Newport, Cape Cod, and Marthas Vineyard. Each of the three places charmed me in its own way.
There’s something special about the timeless ease of New England—it’s unlike anywhere else! If you read my coastal grandma blog post then you know I had been stockpiling outfits to bring with me on this trip. Unfortunately we had gloomy skies most of the week so I wasn’t able to wear them all.
Oh well, I guess that means I’ll have to take a trip back sometime soon! 😉 Today I’m sharing seven outfit ideas for your next trip to New England. Whether you’re hitting the winery or exploring town you’re sure to look stylish in one of these outfits. As always, I’m linking everything for you to recreate these looks and leaving directions to each of these photo locations so you can up your Insta game too! Enjoy.
There’s nothing I love more than a little bit of seersucker in the summertime. This adorable romper was calling my name from the moment I laid eyes on it. This has two long straps that cross along the back and tie around the waist. This leaves you with a plunging neckline that is so flattering.
In the summer there’s a 90% chance you’ll find me wearing a raffia purse, hat, and shoes all at once. I became obsessed with this “triple threat” when I was in high school and years later I still find myself reaching for it. It’s so timeless and gives every outfit that effortless beachy feel.
So many strangers stopped to compliment me while wearing this. Love!

We were shopping in Charleston, South Carolina when I stumbled into the cutest boutique Beau & Ro. The mannequin had on this incredible dress and I knew the hydrangea print would be perfect for a New England summer. This has a super full skirt that’s so easy to twirl in. This is linen although it had a fancier silhouette—in fact, many people asked if I was headed to a wedding while wearing this!
This was full length on me so I slipped into baby lace-up block heels to keep the hem from dragging along the ground. These shoes are from Dolce Vita and come with me on every trip. They are so comfy and look good with everything! Of course, I couldn’t forget my favorite purse. I got this from another Charleston boutique and unfortunately cannot find it anywhere online. Although the brand is Shiraleah.

All the cool Pinterest girls are wearing denim maxi skirts. I hopped on the bandwagon a few months ago when I bought this white one from Boohoo and have worn it on every trip since. There’s something about the loose, low-rise fit that hugs the hips so effortlessly. I couldn’t love this more!
I’ve worn this with basic tanks and bodysuits but today I switched it up and tossed on a button-up. I love the asymmetrical, cropped fit of this. Of course, I had to add raffia accessories. These shoes are another Dolce Vita find and have that same small heel height, that work just fine for a day of exploring.

We spent one of our evenings at the winery, taking pictures in the vineyard and sipping on some sweet wines. A dress seemed like the perfect piece for the occasion. This maxi dress was another Revolve find. This is essentially just a sheet of fabric, hanging shapeless against the body. It scoops rather low in the back but otherwise has no shape. I decided to give it some by tying this seashell belt along the waist.
Definitely not the cute updo I was hoping for but it was so rainy and humid this day so ignore the *very* messy bun.

Who doesn’t love a linen dress on a hot summer day?! This Pepper Mayo dress was made for an East Coast summer. I love the fit of this dress— a strapless style with a huge cut-out along the stomach. This is a full maxi that tapers in towards the bottom—however, there’s a small slit along the back that makes this super easy to walk in.
Again, I reached for the ultimate raffia trio. This clutch is the perfect size for my cards, keys, and phone! I’ve been wearing it nonstop and am so happy that all three match so perfectly!

No better way to beat the heat than with a sun dress. The second I saw this seersucker dress on Revolve’s site, I knew it was coming home with me. Such an easy piece to slip on before heading out the door. I tossed on a cute pair of white sandals and a little purse to match. Perfect, easy outfit!

One thing I wasn’t expecting was for New England to be so brisk! As soon as the rain rolled in the temperature would drop tremendously making it not only humid but very chilly. I was so happy that I threw this crochet sweater in my bag at the last second. I had originally intended to wear this as a beach cover-up but it was never warm enough to wear a swimsuit!
Instead, I styled this with a nude Skims bra underneath and just a simple pair of white jeans. I figured if I had to dress in long clothes, I might as well make them white to keep things summery! Dressing things up with those Dolce Vita wedges—I swear these elevate every outfit in an instant!

I’m so happy we were able to enjoy New England’s beauty this week! I so wish we had seen the sun but got to sport some cute outfits nonetheless. As I said, it just means we’ll have to come back soon. I hear Vermont and New Hampshire are to die for in the fall—perhaps I’ll have to pay a visit once the foliage begins.
Until then, I’ll be dreaming of these chic outfits! xx
