I’m back from an incredible four-day stay in Cabo, Mexico and as promised am sharing all ten outfits I wore during my trip. We visited at the beginning of July and it was scorching hot with 90% humidity nearly every day. Chances are you’ll spend most of your days in the pool so your packing list should be rather simple—swimsuits during the day and a cute dress for the evening.
Hopefully, this post gives you the outfit inspiration you’re looking for. Per usual I’m leaving direct links to shop so you can recreate these looks on your next trip to Mexico. Enjoy!
I love a good green bikini—I don’t know what it is about this shade but it always leaves me feeling my most confident. I found this adorable bikini from Cupshe and knew it would be the perfect piece for this trip. The top has a braided detail along the cups that gives way to the most amazing fringe. Such a unique detail that was so Mexico.
The bottoms are definitely tiny. These slide along the string so they aren’t the most practical piece in the world but they are great for minimal tan lines.
As you may know from my Instagram @styledbymckenz I went on this trip with my twin sister Madison so, of course, we had to get dolled up in matching white dresses and take a few “family photos”. I always make sure to pack a white dress for this reason—there’s nothing better than new beach pics for your mom’s Facebook, lol.
Both of these dresses were recent SheIn finds. They were a little sheer so I suggest nude underwear and a sticky bra to avoid any harsh lines. You can’t see my feet but I’m linking the basic little raffia heels I wore with several outfits on this trip. Dolce Vita has the most comfortable on the market—trust me!
If you’re visiting Cabo in the summer make sure to pack a bathing suit (or five). Temperatures hover just under the hundreds which means if you’re outside, there’s a 90% chance you’ll need to be submerged in water, lol.
There’s nothing I love more than a good string bikini. This adorable one is a part of Kotomi Swim’s newest collection. Kotomi is a small business that I’ve loved for years — her materials are sustainably sourced and her prints are to die for. I was so excited about these suits from her newest collection and even got my twin sister one to match. Of course, the giant orange floppy hat needed to make an appearance! It’s one of my favorite props for Instagram photos.
top || skirt || heels || bag (handmade in Cabo)
There are two sides to Cabo—San Lucas and San Jose. San Jose is super rowdy, party, college spring break vibes, and San Lucas is much calmer with chic waterfront resorts and wedding venues. Show up to dinner in a silk set and heels and nobody would bat an eye! You can be as dressed up (or down) as your heart desires here. We decided to get all dolled up each night
even though we were staying within our resort. It made things more fun and we took some amazing photos.
This orange two-piece set was show-stopping in Cabo. It was the perfect mix of modest yet sexy with a high neckline and open back. I will admit, I sweat right through this silk though since it was so hot during our trip, haha. I highly suggest pairing midi dresses with lace-up heels. These will help elongate the legs rather than stumping you down. My cutie clutch was made right here in Cabo. Such a fun keepsake from this trip!
Rather than stressing about what to wear on vacation, I just pack a bunch of dresses and a couple of pairs of heels + purses that will go with everything. These make for the easiest, no-brainer outfits. Plus, in the midst of summer, I promise you’ll stay coolest in a lightweight linen dress.
I love this pink, geometric print maxi from Saylor. It has a halter neckline and cutouts along the stomach that I loved so much. This was full-length on me so I tossed on a pair of white lace-up heels to give myself a little bit of height. This scored me lots of compliments and would be a great outfit if you’ve got a special occasion to celebrate while in town.
dress || clutch || hair clips || heels
I’d been saving this beautiful blue dress for this trip. This was a recent Pepper Mayo find and it was the perfect piece for a dolled-up dinner. This comes in several different colors and could easily be styled for wedding season. I kept things beachy-esque with raffia lace-up heels, a matching clutch, and a few starfish hair clips.
Definitely recommend packing hair accessories. It’s very humid here so anything to help tame the hair will be appreciated.
top || pants || shoes || bikini top || bikini bottoms || hat || beach bag
I walked back and forth from our hotel room to the beach a gazillion times each day. It was super casual here but I still liked to keep semi-covered while walking around and ordering drinks from the bar. This linen two-piece set is from Aerie’s latest Pool to Party line. This collection has several different designs all made of an easy breezy linen that’s perfect for your next vacation. I love this oversized button-up and beach pants.
Of course, no pool day outfit of mine is complete without a few raffia accessories. I just got this new hat and beach tote from Hat Aattack. I’m always on the hunt for ones that match and this duo was unbeatable. I will be bringing both with me on every summer vacay I have on the horizon.
Some of my favorite swimsuits come from Seven Swimwear, a small sustainable business run by the most bad a$$ team of women. I have a dozen suits from them and they are always some of my most reached for. Her styles definitely run on the skinny side but they will leave you feeling oh-so sexy.
Their tops and bottoms are sold separately—I’m wearing a Small in the top and an XS in the bottoms.
dress || heel || Madison’s dress
We spent one of our evenings sipping cocktails and watching the waves with a little sunset beach picnic. I do this on every trip I take with Velas Resorts so I knew just the dress to wear for the occasion. Something super flowy like this light yellow one from Revolve makes for the best twirling pictures on the beach.
Of course, I picked out a coordinating dress for Madison too. How cute are these tiered ruffles and all of the colors!? This was a Vestique find that I just couldn’t resist packing for this trip. We weren’t here long enough for me to wear everything I brought so I had my sister wear it! Perfect for an evening of sitting along the beach.
bikini top || bikini bottoms || fan
Everyone needs a little black bikini in their collection. I just got this adorable set from a new-to-me brand called Sema. They are another sustainable small business that has arguably the softest material I’ve ever felt in a swimsuit. Literally like butter!
Her suits are unlined with zero padding and smooth edges. I don’t think I’ve ever worn a suit so comfortable. This top has a bit of underwire giving larger chests a little extra support. The bottoms are tiny and sit high up on the hips helping elongate the legs in no time.
