Cabo, Mexico is one of those spots you just have to see for yourself. It’s packed full of beautiful views, amazing food, and good views. It’s truly a destination like no other! There are two sides to Cabo— San Jose, the perfect spot for spring break fun, a rowdy downtown, and a younger crowd, and San Lucas, a popular wedding/honeymoon spot complete with boujee all-inclusive resorts and elevated views.
I’ve been to both now and have to say, I love each for their own reasons. When I went to San Jose I left the hotel each day to explore. We did all the things—beach club, different restaurants every day, etc. If you’re interested in that vibe you can click here for my full travel guide to Cabo San Jose.
However, this time around I was looking to treat my sister to a relaxing getaway. Look no further, Mar Del Cabo was the absolute best spot for the occasion.
I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Everything about this gorgeous adults-only property was perfect—from the pool & beach being just steps away from our room to the thoughtful “excursions”. If you’re looking to be pampered I cannot recommend this spot enough. Spilling all the details of our four-day trip with you today!
There are two airports in Cabo, however, I recommend flying directly to SJD. I have flown both Southwest and JetBlue here and have never had any issues.
It is important to note that you cannot book an Uber at the SJD airport. (You can Uber to the airport just not from the airport.) Of course, you do have the option to take a cab (most are peso/cash only) but I highly suggest coordinating a private transfer beforehand. This way you can ensure that someone safe and reliable is there to pick you up.
If you are staying at Mar Del Cabo you can request a transfer both to and from the airport and one of their staff will be there waiting for you. We did this both ways and it gave me so much peace of mind. The ride is about 25 minutes.
We didn’t end up leaving the resort grounds this time around, although it is safe to do so. If you plan on it, I suggest using Uber as your mode of transportation.
As you know Mexico’a currency is the Peso. Currently $1 American Dollar = $17 Mexican Pesos.
If you’re staying at Mar Del Cabo you can pay for everything by card. I recommend calling your bank and letting them know that you will be traveling internationally to avoid any issues. I also suggest taking out at least $100 worth of pesos to have for tipping at the resort.
Some of the local shopping will also require pesos so if you plan on buying something locally made from any of the stands you might want to consider taking out a little extra.
Mar Del Cabo is a beautiful 4.5-star adults-only boutique hotel located in the heart of San Lucas. It’s about a twenty-minute drive from the main downtown area of San Jose which has most of the lively clubs, restaurants, and beach clubs that you’ve probably seen on your TikTok FYP. We didn’t end up leaving our resort however this is a destination where it is definitely safe to do so!
Mar Del Cabo is a beautiful, quiet resort full of Greek influence. Everything from the beautiful white architecture to the royal blue decals to the blooming pink hibiscus flowers reminded me of my stay in Mykonos. However, you get that slice of Mexican paradise with the room decor, welcome margaritas, and palm trees out your door.
We checked into one of their Partial Ocean View Suites which was absolutely stunning.
This suite had a king bed with comfy linens and locally made accents.
A peek into the living area.
We did have a full kitchen here with a refrigerator, cooking utensils, and a stove. If you were staying in Cabo for an extended period of time, you’d be able to make yourself right at home here.
Our beautiful kitchen table view. There is a huge sliding glass door here that leads out to a beautiful balcony. Truly the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a happy hour margarita.
A look at our bathroom. We had an amazing glass shower and a large mirror for getting ready.
One thing I absolutely loved about this room was the walk-in closet. It was so nice getting to stow away our luggage so that we didn’t have to look at it spilling out into the middle of the room. If you’re an unpacker on vacation, you’d be in heaven here. They also had robes ready and waiting for us which if you know me, is my favorite piece of luxury.

Because this is a boutique hotel there are quite a few different types of rooms, each offering their own unique touches. For best rates and current availability at Mar Del Cabo click here.
It’s all about the extras—a nice room is one thing but when a hotel has nice “everything else” it’s another. Although Mar Del Cabo is not all-inclusive, it has everything you could want for a relaxing stay. There are also several European plans available for purchase which offer special restaurant deals, best booking rates, and romantic dinners.
Below are some of my favorite things this property had to offer.
Private Beach Access
There’s nothing worse than a crowded beach. To our surprise, we had the entire place to ourselves. It’s scorching hot in Cabo during the month of July so it’s actually their low season. Most of the resorts around us were deserted, bringing the term “private beach access” to a whole other level.
Our hotel had a large array of beach chairs, umbrellas, and cozy cabanas. The pool backs right into the beach access so you really are just steps away from the ocean! Unfortunately, Cabo is home to some of the the roughest/most dangerous waves on the coast so I wouldn’t suggest dipping in. Even if you think you are a good swimmer the current here is deadly.
Pool
Mar Del Cabo has a gorgeous pool where I spent most of my time relaxing. As I said, it’s brutally hot in Cabo during the month of July so I spent most of the day reading while submerged in water, haha. They have staff periodically check on you to see if you need fresh towels, a mid-day snack, or another frozen margarita (the answer is always yes!).
The scenery here is so beautiful, you won’t want to leave. Trust me!
On-Site Restaurant
Mar Del Cabo also has its own restaurant on the property called El Encanto. This spot serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily and it has hands down the cutest restaurant you’ve ever seen. I mean wow, the ocean views mixed with the Greece-inspired decor; it’s truly an increíble combination.
Their breakfast was my favorite— delicious fresh smoothies, yummy omelets, and incredible fruit spreads. They have a unique menu here full of healthy options and unique flavor combinations. If you’re looking to expand your palette, you will absolutely love this place.
For lunches, we enjoyed tons of quesadillas and a full taco + tequila tasting!
My favorite dinner was one full of crispy shrimp tacos and their yummy corn soup! We got to try all kinds of things—paella, pasta, and lots of seafood. It’s so fresh here in Cabo! Of course, we also indulged in all kinds of drinks. They have a full bar here so we tried everything from chocolate martinis to Mexican mules.
Access to Grand Velas
Mar Del Cabo is a Velas property which means its sister is Grand Velas, a huge 300+ room all-inclusive resort that’s just a few doors down. This property has three huge pools with swim-up bars, seven restaurants (and a few all-day buffets), a spa, and so much more.
The ocean views here are insane. If you’re wanting to experience true all-inclusive luxury, you are able to book a Day pass to Grand Velas. More details on that here. We spent an entire afternoon here and were pampered with their gorgeous cabanas, amazing lunch buffet, and poolside daiquiris. Highly suggest it, especially if you’re wanting to snap that Insta-worthy pic.
Mar Del Cabo had a full itinerary set up for us including a few fun activities. I was here with my twin sister Madison and it made this bonding time even more special.
Smores By The Water
On our first night, Mar Del Cabo set out a private campfire for us. They had a huge spread of s’mores, churros, and any dipping sauce you could imagine. We roasted marshmallows, listened to music, and enjoyed some distant fireworks.
It was truly the perfect relaxing night. Mar Del Cabo really outdid themselves with this one!
Sunset Beach Picnic
Mar Del Cabo was so nice to set up a private, sunset beach picnic for Madison and me. We had an incredible spread of local fruit, a fresh salad, and small finger foods. We were also greeted with a bottle of champagne and had full access to the bar so we sipped on Aperol spritz’s and martinis for most of the night.
It was such an incredible night. If you are celebrating something special with a partner, I highly suggest booking this activity. It’s truly an experience you’ll never forget.
Cocktail Making Class
Mar Del Cabo also set up a cocktail-making “class” for Madison and me where one of their employees walked us through how to make strawberry mojitos and screaming orgasms. All of the ingredients were laid out upon arrival and Sergio walked us through the steps to making the yummiest drinks. This was so fun and the perfect pregame event for a night out.
Not sure what to wear on your summer vacation to Cabbo? I’ve got you covered. I shared ten outfits I wore during my trip in this blog post. Per usual I’m sharing links to everything for you to easily recreate these looks + directions to each photo location so you can grab an Insta-worthy picture.
It’s scorching hot this time of year so I recommend bringing lots of swimsuits, easy breezy linens, and a few dresses. The humidity is awful in the summer so definitely consider bringing a hat, some hair gel, or a claw clip to keep that hair up! Oh, and don’t forget the bug spray. The mosquitos are pretty bad in the summer!

I cannot say enough good things about my trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Mar Del Cabo was the perfect resort for a relaxing getaway. I’m so glad I had this time to rest and reconnect with my sister.
It’s always a pleasure being back in Mexico. This was my third time visiting in the last year and I’ve already got a ten-day trip to Tulum on the calendar. Stay tuned for more outfit ideas and tons of recommendations coming your way very soon.
With love, McKenz
