Back-to-school season is officially here which means it’s time for a shopping spree. Basic baby tees, bottoms, and light layers will be your best friend when creating outfits for class. I hit the jackpot at Hollister and stocked up on all kinds of essentials!
If you didn’t know, Hollister and Abercrombie are owned by the same company so if you’re looking for chic basics for a fraction of the cost, I highly suggest browsing through their site. I shared my amazing haul on Tik Tok and it reached 1.2 million of you so it only seemed right to round up the links to everything and share more details here.
Today I’m styling ten outfit ideas to wear this back-to-school season that are both comfy and cute. Enjoy!
As a reminder I shared my outfits of the week every Sunday throughout my entire high school and college career in “Weekly Wrap-Ups” so if you’re looking for (thousands) more outfit ideas, feel free to browse through this tab for endless inspiration.

A good pair of jeans is always the first thing I purchase when it’s back-to-school time! I found this straight-leg pair from Hollister for just $25 and was blown away by the fit and quality of these for the price. The last time I was shopping at Hollister I was 16 years old and wearing a size 3. They’ve since redone their sizing—I’m now a 24/25 inch waist and wearing a 000 regular. I’m obsessed with the wash of these and the minimal distressing. These will definitely be my most worn jeans this fall!
I also made sure to pick up a handful of these cotton baby tees. I wear this type of tee all year long—on its own, under sweaters, button-ups, hoodies, etc. They are literally only $15 and can be worn for almost any occasion. Available in over 15 colors too! I’m keeping things simple with a pair of sandals and a purse. Very basic yet so cute!

Of course, fall is right around the corner. Hollister had so many cute sweaters available and I just had to get my hands on this chunky knit cardigan. This has four buttons along the front so it can be worn open with a basic tee underneath or buttoned up as a pullover. Very versatile and a great piece to have on hand as we transition into cooler temperatures.
I paired this with low-rise jeans. I know what you may be thinking, low rise…. my worst nightmare! I’ll admit I actually really love low rise on me. I have a shorter torso so these really help elongate it. When worn with a longer cropped top you’ll be able to pull these off effortlessly, trust me! Throw on a basic pair of sneakers and you’re good to go for a coffee run and class.
Are you someone who loves the comfort of sweatpants but is trying to up their style game a bit this year? If so, try these cargo pants. They are super soft and pretty loose throughout the legs so they feel like elevated joggers! Toss on with a basic baby tee and low-top sneakers and you’re good to go.
If you’re going to college on a larger campus and are on your feet for miles on end, I highly suggest the Dolce Vita Zinas. I wore these almost every day to class to keep comfy and they looked cute with everything.

As you get deeper into your college years, chances are you’ll have to take on an internship or part-time job. If their dress code is business casual you need these pants. You also need them if you’re planning a Europe trip or looking to be a basic Pinterest girl on a budget. I’ve tried every type of trousers on the market and none are as good as these. I got an XXS and these fit me like a literal glove. They are super soft with more of a linen feel which I love!
Pair a basic tee up top and tie a sweater around the nape of your neck for a chic touch. I love this combo so much!

This was another pair of cargos that I just had to have. On clearance for an additional 30% off and so flattering. This style has more of a straight leg and ran a little long on me at only 5’2. I could have definitely gone with the “short” in this specific style. Pair with a basic baby tee and sneaks and you’re good to go for a casual day of class.
tee || jeans || sneakers || purse || sunglasses
Grabbing lunch with a friend on campus? Need something cute and comfy? Ripped jeans, a tee, and Converse is always my go-to. To give things that “clean girl” aesthetic I’m throwing on lots of gold jewelry, pulling my air into a claw clip, and adding a pair of black sunglasses.
A sweater, jeans, and sneakers are my default outfit when I’m not sure what to wear. Come fall time you can find me in a variation of this outfit almost every single day. This sweater’s another Hollister find. I went up to a size small for a boxier fit. I really like the weight of this sweater—not too heavy so it’s perfect as we transition into fall.
It comes in a few different colors—I highly suggest picking it up in a few. I know this will be on repeat all season long!
tee || cargos || sneakers || purse || sunglasses
Those adorable cargo pants I shared in navy? They also come in olive green, khaki, and a couple of other colors. These are such a great basic pair of bottoms to stock up on. They are so versatile and comfortable enough to wear on a daily basis.
They run a little large despite having a drawstring was it so I suggest sizing down. Of course, I’m styling these with those same basic baby tees. I wasn’t lying when I said I wear these with legit everything. Low-top platform Converse are the perfect shoes to finish off this outfit. Slip into a pair of heels if you want to dress this outfit up for a night out at the bars. I’m in love!
I cannot believe how many amazing finds I got at Hollister! I truly hit the jackpot on back-to-school basics. If only I were headed back to school this month—It’s been eight months since I graduated from Kent State and I still haven’t wrapped my head around it. So crazy!
Hope all of you kiddos have the best school year! xo
