7 Back To School Outfit Ideas || American Eagle New Arrivals What To Wear To Class: Fall 2023
Back-to-school season is here and my DMs have been flooded with requests for easy outfit ideas to recreate. Lucky for you I just placed a huge American Eagle order full of basics, denim, and comfies; also known as everything you need to create a versatile, trendy fall wardrobe. Here are seven outfits to rock this school year featuring the new arrivals. Enjoy!
Back To The Classroom

Most of my college days included a morning full of schoolwork and an afternoon of class. My go-to outfit for a day on campus is a basic tee, straight-leg jeans, and platform Converse. These 3/4 length long sleeves are such a closet staple in the fall. These pair well with everything and are a lightweight cotton that’s super comfy. These come in several colors and you need them all!
These jeans are hands down my favorite in my closet right now—you can’t go wrong with a pair of straight legs. They look good with sneakers, boots, and sandals so I end up wearing them every season. These are the perfect wash and have minimal distressing which I love. They are a true, structured denim—I’m wearing a 00 regular and am 5’2, 24-inch waist for reference.
Cozy for Class

Once temperatures cool down you can find me in a cozy crewneck. I have a few from Aerie that I tend to rotate through all fall long. This one is my favorite–available in over 20 colors and on sale right now. It’s a lightweight terrycloth meaning it has that “worn-in” feel.
These are the same jeans from the last look—you’ll see them styled over and over this fall as they are currently my “wear everywhere” jeans, meaning they can be styled for every occasion. Pop on Converse and you’re all set for class!
Keeping Things Casual

These cozy thermal crewnecks are the easiest piece to style for class. I love throwing these on with a pair of leggings and low-top sneakers for an easy, cute outfit. This one runs super oversized and comes in a ton of colors. I suggest sizing up for that boxier fit.
Cutest On Campus

If you’re looking for another pair of jeans, these are another great option. These jeans are from the Dreamy Drape collection at American Eagle which features super soft denim that feels like butter. These are much stretchier and give that second skin feeling so if you’re planning on sitting in the library all day, these are the perfect pants for you. This style in general tends to run a little larger so I suggest going down. I’m wearing a 000 regular here.
Up top I’m wearing one of my favorite basic baby tees. These come in 10+ colors and are the perfect top for everyday wear. They are a longer crop so they are dress code-approved when styled with high-waisted bottoms! On sale too!
Back At The Bars

Who doesn’t love a cute lacey tank?! This black one is modest yet sexy—perfect for a first date or night out at your college bars. Those first few weeks of school you can catch me wearing something like this with a pair of straight-leg jeans and sandals to match. Don’t forget a cute crossbody that closes—this one from Polene is always my go-to.
Pumpkin Spice Season
There’s little nothing better than a cozy, oversized crewneck and a pair of yoga pants on that first, crisp fall day. Bonus points if you’re wearing a pair of cozy mini Uggs! If you’re taking online classes or working from home, you need these basics in your cart! Both are available in several colors and worn on repeat all season long!
Study Date
Something about this outfit just screams study date. I love a button-up, especially as temperatures start to cool down. They are such a good layering piece to have on hand! In my opinion, American Eagle has the best on the market. I’m wearing my true size an XS, and as you can see this still has that perfect oversized fit. I love the tan and white stripes for fall!
Wear it on its own, leave it open with a long sleeve underneath, or throw a sweater on over top for the popped collar look. I’m wearing Dolce Vita Zinas to complete the look. These are the best sneakers in the game. 100% worth the splurge if you’ll be spending long days walking around campus. These are my fourth pair and definitely not my last!

As happy as I am to be traveling around the world, a big piece of my heart wishes I was still in my little college town studying and partying it up with my besties.
